superguide
Re: Traps for muskrats! if you have open water drowning sets work very well-staple a #1 leghold to a 2x6 with a hole drilled through it. Then drive a stake through the hole to anchor it. The rat will climb up on the 2x6 to sun but when it gets caught it dives off and drowns. ousoonerfan22
Re: Traps for muskrats! That good idea!,I've never heard of that. Do you cover the trap with some thin grass or leaves?
RangerClay
Re: Traps for muskrats! My favorite set was a piece of 6" stove under a bridge. Build it up so enough water covers the trap and anchor it with a brick. Do not use a lot of wire so they can climb back in the pipe after they are caught. Just enough to lay the trap inside the pipe. The rat will try to make a run for then cannot get back in the pipe. Every mink and muskrat that goes under that bridge will go though the pipe. I guarantee it! They seem drawn to it out of curiousity. It was my favorite and most productive set. I had one under every bridge in town. Ranger
