hangunnr
Here are three pictures of the crown of my Rem .45 ML. Do ya think I should re-cut it.....LOL I'm thinking of cutting it to a 45 degree angle. Do you feel this would be OK or do you think I should go with a radius like the factory guns have? hangunnr
AJ
Re: AJ, check this out... WOW! The worker that made that one was sleeping at the wheel. I would definately recut it. I would take about 1/4" off the barrel and recut the crown. I went with an 11° target crown on my Encore when I cut it down. It seems to work pretty good. Just about anything would be better than that job. What do you use to polish the crown? I have used a few things from an actual lap designed for crowns, a glass marble, and on my Encore, I used a 300 RUM case. I used the shoulder with some lapping grit. It worked pretty well. Ohiobucks
Re: AJ, check this out... Looks like the rifling doesn't go all the way to the end of the barrel on the one half....?
AJ
Re: AJ, check this out... The lands definately look to be in bad shape. You can see the marks at the red arrows. The rifling should be smooth and even all the way to the crown. Whatever they used at the factory to cut the crown did damage the barrel. Before I cut that crown I would be tempted to send it back to Rem and say give me a new barrel.
