ruttinbuc
Went out looking to see if I could find a buck to kill and ended up shooting this guy. The load was a little on the heavy side even at 80 yds. The exit hole from a 250 grain Hornady SST is golng to be a tough fix for the taxidermist. Nick
Re: Muzzleloader Fox Nice kill ruttinbuc. Them sure are neat little critters. I see them all the time while deer hunting but cant seem to put a hole in one....they never slow down enough. I missed one bow season and saw several muzzle loading but like I said....they just keep on trotting without ever slowing down.
ruttinbuc
Re: Muzzleloader Fox Thanks... this guy was on the move. He stopped and looked my way after I made a short dog yelp. He stood erect and offered a perfect shot opportunity. I couldn't resist. With a not so good deer season I was itching to squeeze the trigger on something! I missed one with my bow on Christmas eve. One branch of a rasberry sticker bush saved its life. It deflected the arrow right past its nose. That fox jumped up a good 6 foot and took off in a blur. I never thought I'd get to draw up on him. They are pretty slick and very aware. Tough to move on, like turkeys.
Tominator
Re: Muzzleloader Fox Beautiful! Where did you hit him? I shot one with a bow directly under my stand about 5 years ago. I squeaked my lips together and he came in on a run right to the base of my tree. I stuck him to the ground, but he hopped off the arrow, trotted behind me and sat there watching me for a bit, then trotted off. I lost the blood trail after about 100 yards. ruttinbuc
Re: Muzzleloader Fox I hit him right behind the top of the shoulder, Chris. You can see the white spot where the hair is gone in the top photo. He has a 10 ring sized hole on the bottom side. I was sitting on a railroad bank elevated a bit. I left him lay for awhile before picking him up. (Still enough light for a deer to show up) A lot of blood flowed out of that wound and was absorbed by the ground. That was a good thing. I was going to take a picture of that damage but my camera's batteries crapped out.
