Adjam5
Re: Would you still kill a doe? I try to fill all my doe tags in the beginning of the season. I always take a doe 1st to fill the freezer and take the MEAT pressure off. I usually take 2-3 doe by the time the rut comes. Then after the rut, I only hunt bucks in certain areas. I have thought about the "does are bred already", and where I gun hunt I let does walk after the rut, deer are not that abundant where I gun hunt. In muzz season I would only take a small immature doe who has not reached breeding status yet. But, Where I bow hunt, in suburban NY, deer are plentiful and I would take a doe whenever the opportunity presents itself.

BowJoe
Re: Would you still kill a doe? I think the above statements are redundant. If you killed a doe October 1st or Feb. 1st, that doe still had potential to have fawns in the spring. No difference at all. The only difference is that doe was pregnant when she was killed. I think it's more of one's own conscience. I personally think that by the standards of the ones against shooting a dow in Feb. they shoudn't shoot a doe after the rut has taken place. Those deer are still just as pregnant as they are in Feb.

Then I really should not shoot any bucks during the rut at all.
