silentgate
Last Spring I tried the new Federal turkey loads with the Flitecontrol wad in my Mossberg 835. I never did get them to pattern well using ported chokes because of their wad stopping capabilities. I tried several non-ported chokes such as Hastings and Trulock and got better results but nothing to write home about. Did anybody have any luck with these shells out of your 835? What choke? Slugger
Re: Federal Flitecontrol Turkey Loads I also tried them. got pretty good results. i wouldnt hesitate on shooting a turkey out to 45-50 yards with em. they werent the best pattern that i found though so i didnt use em . ended up going with winchester xtended range 3.5 #6 awsome patterns from them out of my 835 with stardot .
borch
Re: Federal Flitecontrol Turkey Loads I was suprised, but they patterned best out my stoeger with a cnc tube. I thought the wad stripping properties of the tube would make them less effective.
HeviShot
Re: Federal Flitecontrol Turkey Loads I shot some 3 1/2 #5 through my Nova with a H.S strut choke .675.They were not what I chose to shoot.Thet just were'nt consistant. The first shot out of a clean barrel was good then it would get worse. AJ
Re: Federal Flitecontrol Turkey Loads [ QUOTE ] The first shot out of a clean barrel was good then it would get worse. [/ QUOTE ] This is common for most shots. Your best pattern will usually be out of a clean barrel. It almost always goes downhill after that. How rapidly it goes downhill will depend on the barrel, choke, ammo combination.

WaCoyote
Re: Federal Flitecontrol Turkey Loads I patterned a mossberg with an exforum user and he got pretty good results with the 4's out of his mossy and the factory turkey choke. In fact they were really good. I LOVE the 6's out of my BPS.
