Re: Aluminum and carbon arrows

The thing about carbon is that they don't bend. That is the main reason most people use them. I am not gonna say that you will definately get more deer out of each arrow but you will have a better chance at getting more out of each arrow. Carbons flex and either return to form or break. Aluminum usually just bend and break. So as lond as the deer does not break it off running by a tree or falling on your carbon arrow it is normally ok to use again. I have heard of some guys using the same arrow on 5 deer.

Re: Aluminum and carbon arrows

only problem w/ carbon arrows is that you need to be sure and check them, if one cracks then it has a possibility of breaking apart or "exploding." I remember a post here a few monthsa ago, were the guy had a carbon arrow explode and drive right through his hand!

I know that carbon arrows fly faster, but the aluminums hit harder, i think it all depends on what you want, I went for the carbons.

To check this turn the arrow a 1/4 turn and flex it, do this four times. If you hear the slightest crack while flexing. The arrow should be destroyed! To do this just remove your FT or BH and smack it right in the middle and break it in half. This way nobody will be able to use it and get hurt.

I am happy with both carbon and aluminum. I shoot aluminum because you cant hardly find a bad arrow in the whole bunch. Carbon, on the other hand, have bad arrows and sometimes just brake hitting the target with a kids bow.

Re: Aluminum and carbon arrows

I was reluctant to switch to carbons, but am glad that I did. Aluminums are just soo fragile. They can be bent enough to effect flight without you really knowing it. I was constantly spinning my aluminums. I shoot alot, and I was constantly sliding arrows right next to other ones, which put grooves in my shafts, then they were useless. You gotta hit something pretty darn hard to ruin a carbon.
