Nick
Re: hoyt or mathews Mathews without a doubt. I bought a Outback when they first came out and have had zero complaints. Today I just shot the Mathews Switchback XT and the Hoyt Trykon at our local pro shop. I shot one right after another so I could tell differences. And without a doubt the Mathews was the best shooting bow with the best quality. I was honestly willing to give Hoyt a chance but I was not impressed at all. Tony
Re: hoyt or mathews [ QUOTE ] I shoot a Mathews for one they are the smoothest, quietest, fastest bow in the world, and for two not a big fan of a two cam bow, Yes I said two cam, there is no such thing as a cam and half, you do the math cam on one end, cam on the other = 2 cams. You don't put two cams on a bow for the same reasons you don't put two engines in a car, sychronization problems. Just remember any maintenance you do on a single cam bow, you have to do double on a two cam bow. I don't mean to cause any fuss, this is just my personal opinion. I am fim believer in a single cam bow and perfect level nock travel, and MATHEWS SOLOCAM bows out perform them all. Happy Hunting, Casey [/ QUOTE ] say what ? you think a statement like that will go unchallenged ? first let me say i am not mad at Casey , i am just stating a few facts to debate against what he says about Hoyts cam and half system . since i have been shooting Hoyts cam and half system for 3 years now i think i am a pretty good judge of it. since i have worked in a Hoyt dealer shop and have seen hundereds of Hoyts , i have never had a customer come in and have us put his bow in Sync , because its out of sync. i respect your opinion CD123 , but please get your facts straight. its not a 2 cam bow. the control cable slaves the 2 cams together to make them work together. i know you mathews guys can add , but that doesnt make all of you engineers . definaition of slaved " : a device that is directly responsive to another ." which means the same thing as 2 cams slaved together which makes the cam and a half system. its just easier to say cam and a half than " 2 cams slaved together to make 1 and a half " . i have had 3 Hoyt bows with the cam and half on them i have NEVER had any problems with the cams not being in sync. so i have no idea what your talking about. oh and that " sychronization problems " you claim . it was good enough to WIN all the Major Indoor target tournaments the first year it came out. and almost a clean sweep the next year also. if any of you wish to go to this link and read the news flashes on all the touranments Hoyt has won with the cam and half system heres the link. theres so many i dont want to list them all here. http://www.hoyt.com/news/newsreleases.tpl not to bad for a horrible unsyncronized cam system isnt it. at least thats what many Mathews guys would like for all of you to believe . [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, but Im a Mathews owner and I'll argue it. To me a Hoyt feels like your holding onto a toothpick with a 2X4 on each end. Definately not comfortable to me. The Mathews grip has some shape and actually forms to your hand. And yes, I have shot both. I just bought my 2nd Mathews in a row. I was actually willing to give Hoyt a chance but to me, the Hoyts werent up to par.

Leo
Re: hoyt or mathews My current bow is not either one. So I don't feel the need to drop a personal endorsement for either one. Both companies make fine bows. Get what you like, shoot best and can afford. Spend the time you would waste arguing why one is better than the other, actually hunting

Hillbilly
Re: hoyt or mathews Why does everyone argue over which is better??? The hunter is the only person that makes the bow a great bow. For example, some say hoyt is better some say mathews is better, but if a hoyt shooter kills more deer with his bow, then does that make the bow better? No it doesn't it shows that the hunter is better than the other hunter. A bow has one job, to be sling the arrows. The hunter does the rest. Hillbilly
Re: hoyt or mathews [ QUOTE ] I always say " if your not shooting a mathews you want to be" No one said you can't make a Hoyt shoot its just double the maintenance of any Mathews. As far as Indoor tournaments go and Hoyt bows: I'm glad to see they can shoot dots at 20 yds. Mathews bows have the chip shots covered as well as distance thats why they are untouchable in the professional 3d circuit, where is hoyt at there? Also when 90% of the indoor shooters shoot Hoyt bows, the odds are definitly in their favor wouldn't you say? They have to compete where they can. Nobody said Hoyt wasn't a descent bow, they just havent' reached the level that mathews is at. They're always just a few steps behind. For example look at the new Hoyt Trykon and look at the 2005 Mathews Switchback. Examine the specs and compare the two bows visualy. The comparison will speak for its self. Happy Hunting , casey [/ QUOTE ] WHO CARES!! Your making this out to be stupid topic. I hate talking about bows anymore because people like you degrade other bows when you compare it to the Mathews. Your making this sound like all bows except Mathews are worthless. The hunter makes the bow, not the other way around.
