johnf
I got a summit mini viper from a guy in the RT classified and he sent me a ratchet strap with it. What the heck do I do with the ratchet strap?
maytom
Re: stupid question for summit owners I picked up a Summit climber back in October and it comes with a strap that goes around the tree and the top section of the stand (the cables) to prevent it from moving when bumped into while up in a tree. That guy must of just preferred a ratchet strap to the one that came with the stand.
tedicast
Re: stupid question for summit owners John, why don't you pm the seller and ask him. I agree, it is most likely added stability to the seat portion of the stand.
AaronS
Re: stupid question for summit owners I agree with the above, and you can also use it to strap the two pieces together while carrying to eliminate rattles.

It works great! I have one and will not be without one! I just dont care for the strap that comes with the stand. Once that strap is tight, it doent move! Makes the stand ROCK solid! That is what I like when up 25 feet in a tree!
johnf
Re: stupid question for summit owners I tried that on an electic pole (no trees in my yard ) in my back yard last night and it didn't work worth a darn. I didn't try to climb the pole, I just wanted to see how it worked. I guess the pole was too slick. Ill take it somewhere else today and try it on a real tree. HarvDog
Re: stupid question for summit owners When transporting, use it to secure the two pieces together. When hunting, use it to secure the upper section to the tree.

[/ QUOTE ] But the rachet strap is an extra piece of equipment bought to secure the stand better to the tree. The strap that comes with the stand is use to keep the top and bottom sections together while transporting. Also for use while your up in the tree. But it does not work as good as a rachet strap. John PM me if you want, Ill snap a pic on where you attach the rachet strap. If I get some time Ill try to post it as well.
