LETMGROW
Re: savage 17hmr? I commented on another post. I like my Savage .17,except for the tricky clip. once you get used to it it isn't so bad. The Marlin is nicer no doubt, but more expensive. My Savage does shoot very well. Will flat out dump a chuck! Guest Colorado Bob
Re: savage 17hmr? I got the Savage for shooting prairie dogs. MHO they are about equal. Get the one you like.

AJ
Re: savage 17hmr? It's which ever one you like the best. Either one will be a good choice. I have seen great shooting versions of both of them. Barrel thickness does not mean a lot on factory rimfire guns.

AJ
Re: savage 17hmr? [ QUOTE ] is a 17mach2 any good? [/ QUOTE ] Yep, as long as you keep your expectations in line with the cartridge. Its not a 17 HMR. Its like a flat shooting 22 lr. Thats it. The 17 HMR is a 22 Mag case necked down for 17 cal bullets, the 17M2 is a 22 lr case necked down for 17 cal bullets. If you are wanting it for coyotes, stick with the 17 HMR.
LETMGROW
Re: savage 17hmr? Good answer AJ. I don't see what all the hype about the .17 mach2 is about. It's a slower round not much good for anything [iMO]. The only advantage to it is it is a little cheaper to buy than the .17 HMR. I would rather have a good .22 anyday! AJ
Re: savage 17hmr? Letmgrow, Yeah, I also don't see the benefit of the 17M2. Its a lot more expensive to shoot than the 22 lr, but still does not have the range or power of the 22 Mag.
