That was a long ways up a tree there Randy. I've never been past 20' or so man. Up that high, I guess your basically shooting straight down, even if the deer is out 30 yrds eh..LOL

LAST YEAR .....January 15th buck

Last years buck reminds me of the spot we hunt on the river here. Sometimes the river bottom floods here to and drives all the bears and deer up on the high ground where we're set up. It can get pretty awesome when it comes to seeing game, when that happens.

Way to go on the 2 back to back fantastic seasons Randy ...Ya done good...real good ...............too good...I'm jealous. grin.gif

Re: Randy Oitker does it again

I am sorry that I missed the days that you guys were discussing my hunts. I want to thank each of you for the kind words.

I always hunt at least 25-30 ft. high because I always have a cameraman. My dad films for me and with all of the extra movement,we tend to hunt high.

In that 40 ft. situtation, if we had only been 25 feet up the deer would have been looking right at us when they came across the field. There is one thing

that I do religiously when hunting in a tree,no matter how high I am. I wear a full body safety harness,I am

attached all the way up the tree, while I am in the tree

and on my way down the tree. I am very fortunate to hunt premier places like walnut knob and the Bottoms where the big deer live.

I am going to be performing across the country again this year. I will be at the Harrisburg,PA. show all 9 days,3 shows per day, in the West Hall area.

If you are ever at an event that I am at ,please come up and say you are from the forum. I meet several last year when I performed at the Bristol Motor Speedway and at all of the Cabela's stores

I was at.

Thanks,

Randy

Remember to keep our sport alive and make it a fair chase hunt.Don't forget anything with a bow is a trophy.

Re: Randy Oitker does it again

Thank you for participating in the forum and giving us the honor of your personal response. We all appreciate it. I hunt around that area only a little further north in Carmi. I am from Benton, IL and I live less than 30 miles from where both of these trophies were killed. We try to keep it a secret that the bigger deer live in Southern IL but every once in a while the whoppers make front page headlines. Congrats Randy and let me know if you ever need help draggin'. LOL
