Guest tyshe17
With 3d starting for us next weekend I was wondering what yalls pin gap is. I have semi mastered my back tension (went with the scott longhorn) and converted to 3d arrows (carbon express line jammers with 2.25 in x-vanes by bohning) which shoot great. Last year I just shot 20 30 40 but with 5 pins this year I have a lot more options. Before the year is over my max is suppose to be 45 (that is the ASA hunter class max right?) but sometimes that is stretched out to almost 50. So if you shoot pins, or if you did shoot pins and had 5 what would you set them for. Thanks and have a good one!
dg
Re: pin gap tyshe, I cut n paste this from the ASA website. Your max will be 40 yds in ASA. I'm not sure if you go to a shoot with IBO rules. I think IBO requires 4" vanes and screw in tips. ASA doesn't. Here it is: 1. Men’s Hunter 40 yards, 280 FPS This class is open to anyone who did not compete in Open A (or higher), win more than $200 in prize money in Unlimited or Open B, or win more than $400.00 in Hunter during their most recent year of ASA Pro/Am competition. All other amateur classes are eligible. Release, fixed pins with magnification allowed. Stabilizer Rule - A front stabilizer (or system including quick releases and/or enhancers) may be used, but may not exceed twelve inches (12”) in total length from the tip of the stabilizer (or system) to the point of attachment on the front of the riser provided by the manufacturer. A rear stabilizer or counter balance weight system may be used with a maximum of two extensions, but may not extend more than six inches (6”) in length as measured from either: (1) the point of attachment on the rear of the riser provided by the manufacturer, or (2) if there is no rear point of attachment the system may not extend more than six inches (6”) beyond the back of the grip. Guest tyshe17
Re: pin gap Well, down here, the max for the MBR is 45. I dont know why they do that if it is different for ASA but they do. I was just wondering what pin gap you would set to cover a touch over the 45 yd max. We all know sometimes they get a little stretched out:) if you had 5 pins to do it with. Tony
Re: pin gap you could set pins at 15 , 25 , 35 and 45. that way you have it all covered. there are a lot of guys that set pins all differant ways. some might set pins 17 , 27 , 37 , 47. practice is the key for which ever way you decide to set them up. its best to start out the season with them set one way and then shoot the whole season that way. good luck Tony
Guest tyshe17
Re: pin gap thanks I appreciate it. I think i am going to go 25, 33, 38, 43, and 48 that way every thing could be covered and I had a lot of 8's and 3's last year on distances...just kinda how they set some of the courses down here. I appreciate the help.
