LifeNRA
How far does a broadhead differ when sighting in? My field tips hit the bullseye, but when the broadheads I am shooting lower and to the left about 4 inches. Is this normal?
VTbowman
Re: Broadheads Vs. Field Tips? BH and FT , if being the same weight, should impact the same spot. Both fixed and mech heads should fly just like your field points. Wind can be a big factor over the broad heads too so pay attention to that. Especially fixed blades. If they do not hit the same then the BH are out of tune or are just not good fliers on your arrows. Probably not what you you wanting to hear -huh. LifeNRA
Re: Broadheads Vs. Field Tips? Well it was a little windy, but the way the wind was blowing I guess should have moved my shots to the right since the wind was coming from my left. Yeah the BH's are the same weight as the FT's. Plus it was colder out since I was out last and I only had a sweat-shirt on probably not to smart, I was glad to get back into the truck! I need to find an in-door range. [/ QUOTE ] If your BH's are grouping and flying good, I wouldn't mess with it now. Just adjust the sight to the broadheads IMHO. There are a number of things that can cause FP and BH to not hit the same. Some I've experienced is: - me the shooter torqing the bow - bow out of time (two cam bow) - usually arrow spine too weak - rest/nocking point adjustment wrong - vane contact - nocks too tight - string loop cocked 90 degrees - bent broadheads, blades, or inserts that don't spin true There is nothing wrong with them not flying the same. Just be sure the arrows are impacting on a vertical line (i.e. 30 and 40 not veering left or right of the 20 yard impact spot as you go back on farther shots.) LifeNRA
Re: Broadheads Vs. Field Tips? Yeah there grouping fine! Three shots all together in a three inch circle at 25 yards. Just not the same as the FP's. I will play with it now more in the spring. Getting to cold now, because I wont be hunting with it until next year anyways! Thanks guys!!!
