hunter_mike
Anyone use Hevi Shot Dead Coyote load. My dad got it and it looks like it will work pretty good. How far is it effective.
jcwa
Re: Hevi Shot I haven't used Hevi Shot dead coyote load, I just use buck shot, it's cheaper and the coyote is just as dead. You need to pattern your shotgun to see how affective it is at different yardages. I have read of people taking coyotes out to 60 yds with Hevi Shot dead coyote load. Guest fourtrax_300
Re: Hevi Shot yeah i'v been wanting to try some of the dead coyote laods in my 12 ga but i think i'll stick to reglar buck shot cause the hevi shot is expensive ! okbowman
Re: Hevi Shot I've heard the dead coyote loads are really good!! I've never used a shotgun on yotes so I can't tell you any difference in them and buckshot.
Guest ronin
Re: Hevi Shot I think the yote load is similar, if not the same, as one of the turkey loads. Regardless, I absolutely love Hevyshot. It is the best tungsten based product of all the MFR's, IMO. I rolled a yote from the prone in grass at 60 yards with 12 GA #4's. I dropped a goose in the air at about 75-80 yards with the same load. JC had a very good point about buckshot, though. I have trained regularly for 100 yard shots with 00 buck in my duty 870. I can put them all on the man size paper target consistantly. It's not just me, either. anyone can do it with the right choke and a little practice. 00 buck at 100 yards is very deadly. The only difficulty is the quantity of pellets. "Aim small, miss small."
