Guest buddy ahart
I went out last week by myself got a few flocks of candas to come in didnt have any snow decoys out but they were flying around everywhere. Well a flock of about 200 flew over pretty low and one turned and came back as he got closer i noticed his foot was hanging and figured he was injured and weak. Well after about 15 minutes of calling to him he came low enough and i pepperd him. It was a great day of hutning and to get a snow just topped it off. His foot was 2 times the size of his other one . Here are the pics thought someone might find this intesting i did.

clayman
Re: Bad foot What color was the meat on that snow? I'd be suspicious of that bird. Looks like it was wounded sometime and now is swollen and infected. I've seen occasional cripples that we've put down while hunting, and the meat was turning green. We do them the favor of putting them down, but you have to pitch the whole bird cause it's been ruined by gangreen. If it we're me, I'd toss it and not take a chance with eating a bad bird.
