sasksheds
Re: ? about coming into canada I know for us to go to the U.S. from here we have to go through some red tape etc... but it can be done.It is a crim. offence & therefore you have a record. The scouts have even started doing crim. checks on their leaders & this has caused a problem.Guys 20-25 years ago had a DWI & to be scout leaders had to pay & go through the red tape to get their named cleared. puffy
Re: ? about coming into canada Contact the Canada Customs branch and inquire about the DWI statutes. I know you should also get yourself a passport or a copy of your birth cert. as proof of citizenship to re-enter the U.S.. The times have changed. I just went through this summer to Michigan from Sault-St-Marie and across Wisconsin and Minnesota back to Canada. What a pain at the border coming into Michigan. I had to leave all my food and dog food and dog treats at the border and the officers acted like they had never seen frs radios or a handheld cb walkie before. They grilled me about what they were and what I needed them for. I was sure glad to be on the road after that. I didn't realize so much had changed in two years until that day. Sorry for goin on and on! Better to be prepared.

Bownarow
Re: ? about coming into canada By 12/31/06, a passport will be required for air and sea travel to and from Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, etc. By 12/31/07, above regulations will apply to land travel as well. I read this on a couple websites just now.
Valkrie1357
Re: ? about coming into canada June 2005 I went Bear Hunting. Drivers Licence was all We needed. 6 of us Crossed at the peace gardens North Central Dokota into Manitoba. 3 Guns per person. about $21.00 fee we shot Prarie dogs too. 1 guy had to pay a duty he had over 500 rounds of reloaded shells. A guy I work with went to canada (tried) in the 90's & one of the guys had a DUI & they wouldn't let him in. They didn't know that then, so they all came back. birddog
Re: ? about coming into canada I have been traveling to Canada on an annual Father/Son fishing trip since 1986: Never had a problem until this past year: There were 11 of us, and one of the "sons" had a DWI a couple years ago: At the border, our truck made it through fine: HOWEVER, the next truck, with 5 guys, got held up: They asked a ton of questions, and the guy with the DWI: was told he could not enter Canada: He was asked if he had a DWI and said YES: When it came down to him getting turned back, he asked..."What if I would have said NO" The border patrol told him "You would have been pulled over within a mile, and arrested on Felony charges"....Long story short.....The group dumped him in Baudette, at a motel, and met up with us at the resort: From the research I have done it is any charge in the past 10 years that is on record, I have known guys who head up to Dogfish Lake every year, and this year they had 2 guys with DWI's, and agreed if they got turned back they would all fish American waters, and they made it through: As for bringing guns/bows, etc: You are much more likely to get checked, so have your ducks in a row is my only recommendation.......you can P.M. me if you have more questions, as I travel to Canada 7-8 times a year: However, I have nothing on my record, and I try to make it as painless as possible :-)
