I would love to buy both but can only afford one. My question is; witch gun would be the best for a shooter as well a a carry pistol? I like the length of the 23, but it may be big for a ccw. I don't like the jump of the 27,but it is a breeze to carry. Any tips?

Re: Glock 23 or 27

Andy, I have a Glock 27 in 40 cal. and although the grip is too small it can be remedied.

I bought a plus 2 (+2) extension. It gives two more rounds in the magazine if you want, and extends the grip enough for a larger hand and better grip.

Personally, I have several semi-autos but the best of the semi-autos for carrying in my opinion, is the Colt Mustang .380 with a +2 extension. It is much lighter.

When a semi-auto is carried with a full magazine I find it too uncomfortable. They are simply "grip heavy" and it is almost impossible to carry them concealed. The grip always wants to flop away from the body.

The most comfortable to carry is a .38 S&W Chief Special. With all the weight of the cartridges in the cylinder it gives it a better balance for carrying.

Also with a revolver I don't have to worry about a little fleck of trash getting into the action and jamming before getting a second shot.

Most of the time I never carry anyway, but having the permit keeps me from filling out so much paperwork, and a waiting period if I find a new gun I want to purchase.

Re: Glock 23 or 27

I read this on another forum and thought it was very good information.

Something everyone has to learn, and there is a learning curve, is that it is the system, not the gun. The system includes the kind of clothing you wear, the belt, the holster, the gun, and the belt. Did I mention the belt? A lot of folks overlook this. It is often the weakest link in the whole system. So get a good, wide (at least 1.5"), strong belt that will retain its profile without bending or rolling, and then a holster that snugs the gun in close and feels comfortable on you, and then clothing that are appropriate for time/place/season/occasion and cover the weapon adequately, and you are good to go. Notice I did not say anything about how big you are or how big the gun is.

Re: Glock 23 or 27

I've got both.

I have a pretty big hand and have no issues with cotrolling the 27. It's not a harsh gun to shoot by any stretch (it was my wife's primary carry gun for several years). It takes a little different gripping method. But no big hangups.

I like the way the 23 feels in my hand better. It also gives the advantage of 13+1 over the 9+1 of the 27. I have no trouble concealing the 23 with a simple Uncle Mike's nylon ITP holster and an un-tucked T-shirt.

You won't go wrong with either one. wink.gif

That being said....... my absolute favorite (and constant companion) is a 29. But we won't go there. grin.gif
