bigmoss
Hey guys I finally got me new Encore in ML and I order a 7MM barrel and forend. The gun is SS and Camo and I love it. I am going to mount my rings and scopes etc on the weekend but have a few quick questions, I read the manual but you know guys we hate instructions lol. 1. What exactly is the little black plastic piece for in front of the breech plug ? From the look of it you put the 209 primer in and when you close the gun it comes up against that before getting to the breech ? 2. Do I have to break the gun down to remove this piece in order to remove the breech plug every time ? 3. If I read correclty I remove the 2 screws holding the forend on, crack the gun open, slide out the pin holding the 2 pieces together, slide the 7mm barrell in, put pin back in and reapply forend ? str8shooter48
Re: New Encore owner questions The primer extractor is not really needed. Pull it out along with the hold down screw and put it away. I pulled mine four years ago and never had a problem inserting primers and never had one stick. The ability to pull the breech plug without the dissassmebly of the gun is an asset. As far as the E-Z Tip extractor I here its a waste of money they are poorly made and don't have a very long life span. All I can tell you is pull it and see what you think, then make your decision. too_pointer
Re: New Encore owner questions I agree, I took out my extractor a few years back, it is NOT needed ! I have a rifle barrel for my Encore and you are right on how to change barrels. Congrats on a fine gun too_
bigmoss
Re: New Encore owner questions Hey guys thanks for the replies, so if I understand correctly when I disassemble the gun the extra can be removed and when I reassemble just dont put it back in ? tedicast
Re: New Encore owner questions I replaced the extractor in my 209x50 wi the EZ Tip extractor. I have had no problems at all. It works just fine. A lot easier to remove the Breech Plug with the EZ Extractor.
