huntinsonovagun
Finally got my first rifle the other day and got it out today, just using a buddy's red dot scope to put a few rounds through it. I was impressed with the combination. At 85 yards I had a 1 inch group, which ain't bad out of the box with a cheap scope with virtually no magnification. There are a few modifications I would like to make though. One thing that bothers me is the forend touching the barrel, which I will take care of with a dremel tool, or maybe just sandpaper to get somewhat of a floated barrel. Going to try the "O-ring" trick that AJ speaks about as well. Which brings me to my next question....Do you know what size o-ring I will need for a bull barrel off the top of your head? Also, buddy had some old weaver scope rings and a different scope we were going to try, but the hammer was going to interfere. What size rings do you suggest? High? All we could find at Wal-Mart was see-through rings, which I'd rather stay away from if possible. I'll probably go with the 44 mag, btw.. Also, does this scope have a target plex? Trying my best to decipher. I'm will to pay the $10 for a smaller reticle, if it is a little smaller..... 44mag The trigger felt good actually, we'll see how it feels later down the road. Thanks again AJ!!!
AJ
Re: Looks to be a shooter.... [ QUOTE ] Do you know what size o-ring I will need for a bull barrel off the top of your head? [/ QUOTE ] A 3/8" ID x 9/16" OD I have high rings on most of my Handi Rifles. I did use medium rings on my Ultra Comp but I ground down the hammer a bit. Most of them have the standard duplex reticle. They do offer a MilDot reticle I would probably go with the MilDot for only $10 more.
johnf
Re: Looks to be a shooter.... I use Medium high for my handi and ultra rifles, but you have to mount your scope so the hammer clears it. I've got a Nikon pro staf with a nice scrape on the under side of the eye peice. OUCH! huntinsonovagun
Re: Looks to be a shooter.... Can I use the standard Leupold rings with the base that comes on the Handi? Sorry for the dumb questions....bows are more my thing. I'm definitly learning though!! Any reccomendations on places to buy rings? Best place I've found so far (that has some in stock) is www.theopticzone.com Thanks ONCE again!!
AJ
Re: Looks to be a shooter.... Natchez also has good quality rings that will work for your setup. Leupold does have Weaver type rings in your link they are the PRW rings. So does Burris, Weaver, Warne, and others.
