archerjg
I am looking at getting a model 94 I am looking at the Ranger and Legacy. What advantage does the 24" barreled legacy have over the 20" barreled Ranger in terms of velocity and accuracy. This would be a .30/.30 action. Thank you in advance. AJ
Re: Winchester Model 94? The 20" gun will give you about 2200 fps with a 170 gr bullet. You will gain about 100 fps with the 24" barrel. With a 150 gr bullet you will have about 2300 fps with the 20" barrel and again you will gain about 100 fps with the 24" barrel. As far as accuracy, the 20" will probably be more accurate in a perfect custom gun but in a factory gun, it really does not matter. If you are going to shoot open sights, the longer barrel will probably help.
