woodsman2230
I have a nice turkey gun but I want to put some fiber optic sights on it. What are the best?
AJ
Re: The Best Turkey Sight I put Tru Glo adjustable sights on my 11-87 Super Mag. So far they have worked just fine.

AJ
Re: The Best Turkey Sight [ QUOTE ] Simmons Pro Diamond scope for my 835 [/ QUOTE ] I had one on my 835, and well, I hope your barrels are ported. The PD has some short eye relief. I found that out the hard way when I had the 3.5" mags in it. My 835 was not ported. At least the rubber around the eye piece keeps you grom getting cut. Its no longer on my 835. I went with a red dot.
vagobbln
Re: The Best Turkey Sight I have a Benelli M-1 with a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot on it. I've used it for about 2 years after using the fiber optics for about 15 years. I really like it alot. Quick target aquisition and I like the fact you don't have to make sure your head is really down on the gun. I think it allows you to watch the action a little better. I was concerned about follow ups, but so far 6 shots - 6 turkeys.

It should work for me.
RangerClay
Re: The Best Turkey Sight I may the odd one here but my sights are simple. The bead at the end of the barrel Every time I have pointed it at a turkey it has died. Ranger

AJ
Re: The Best Turkey Sight [ QUOTE ] I may the odd one here but my sights are simple. The bead at the end of the barrel [/ QUOTE ] Those are great as long as the point of impact is exactly dead on. With todays super tight chokes and buffered hevi shot loads, its really not that hard to miss a turkey when they come in too close. Your shot has to be perfect. too_pointer
Re: The Best Turkey Sight My new Moss. 935 has fiber optics mounted on the vent rib, and they are nice and bright. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but should be deadly with some 3 1/2" hevi shot too_

borch
Re: The Best Turkey Sight I really like the Williams Firesights. They are rock solid! The Tru Glo Trupoint slide lock series has been very good as well.

AJ
Re: The Best Turkey Sight [ QUOTE ] what size tru-glo sights would fit a Benelli Nova? 6mm? [/ QUOTE ] Tru-Glo has universal (one size fits all) and they have specific size sights depending on the model you want. Chceck out their sights here on their shotgun website. Your shot has to be perfect. [/ QUOTE ] I'll second that. I have a Rhino choke tube on my 835 shooting Nitro Hevi 4x5x7's out of it. To make a long story short, at 15 yards the pattern is like a golf ball, which almost cost me my gobbler last spring, thankfully though I was able to chamber another one and roll him at 30 yards where the pattern opens up more. As for type of sight, I only use Simmons Red Dots. They stand up to some SERIOUS abuse, are crystal clear to see through, and provide the ultimate eye relief as far as scopes go. Best part is you can get one for a little more (and less in some cases) than a set of Tru Glo sights
VermontHunter
Re: The Best Turkey Sight Speaking of that tight pattern up close,,,, what is the optimum range you should check that center shot from ??? I was thinking of fiber optic sights, but it sounds like I should be investing in a red dot scope and a B-Square mount.....
PAbowhunter4life
Re: The Best Turkey Sight Honestly man, I am a little "obsessive" when it comes to sighting in my turkey gun. I shot 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards when I sighted her in, which cost me an arm and a leg cause of the price of Nitro Ammo shells, but they are well worth the cost and it was money well spent to observe my guns performance at different ranges. Anywho, as I said, I like to shoot at pretty much all yardages I may encounter a turkey at, this way I know EXACTLY what my pattern is doing at "XX" yards. P.S.- I sighted my gun in @ 40 yards and from 0-50 yards I can keep the dot directly on a gobblers head and drop him where he stands. AJ
Re: The Best Turkey Sight I fixed the too tight situation by not letting them get that close. My first clean shot under 50 yards and the gun is going off.
dogdoc
Re: The Best Turkey Sight Like AJ, I have a red dot scope on my 835. It came standard with the fiber optic type rifle sights but I just love the red dot. You can pattern that full choke really nice with the red dot! todd
