RangerClay
Howdy All, Pictured below is the crib my 18 month old son sleeps in. Lately he has mastered the art of climbing out of his crib in the middle of the night. What can I do to keep him the crib? If you can help me I will PERSONALLY send you a prize! Thanks, a very sleepless Ranger
Ohiobucks
Re: I need help from parents! Have you lowered the mattress spring board holder thing to it's lowest setting? Ours had 3 or 4 different levels of height adjustment. Just a thought.

huntinsonovagun
Re: I need help from parents! I would get a shock-collar. You'll have to stay up and give him a buzz the first couple of nights, but he'll learn quick.
Guest Storm25m
Re: I need help from parents! My son never crawled out of his crib, but we did put him in a toddler bed before he COULD crawl out of it. I think he was about a year old. After we put him in the toddler bed, he would wake up several times a night and come into our room. Every time he did it, I picked him up, carried him back to his bed, and went back to my bed. Never saying a word to him. After a two weeks of that, he rarely ever comes into our room at night(almost 3 years later now). When he does, I put him back in bed without saying a word, and he stays there. I hope it works out just as good for my 5 month old. If you've already got into the habit of letting him into your bed, it's going to take A LOT longer to get him out of the habit.
okbowman
Re: I need help from parents! Just be consistent, and get that kid a toddler bed! If you can't keep him in his crib on the lowest setting, you aren't going to be able to keep him in anything outside of a cage(don' t do that). Get him a toddler or twin bed and be consistent with making him sleep in it and he will do fine!
MadHuntinPastor
Re: I need help from parents! Time to get him a toddler or real bed so he doesn't hurt himself climbing out of the crib. Sounds like good training dvice from Storm25m. Same thing they tell you to do on Super Nanny and Nanny 911 Good luck
HuntingInMaine
Re: I need help from parents! I agree, it's time for a big boy bed! If you are worried he's going to get out of his room and into something he shouldn't, put a baby gate in the bedroom door to keep him in his room. [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. Seems to me, we moved all of our kids out of the crib right around 18months. Twice by necessity to make room for a sibling, once because it just seemed to be the right time. dogdoc
Re: I need help from parents! yep--i agree time for a toddler bed. We let our girls pick out their own bed and make a real big deal about it. I had a friend order a crib tent when his child started climbing out the crib:
RangerClay
Re: I need help from parents! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The comical part of this story was when were discussing our options for Nathan my wife says, "Get on the internet and talk to those buddies of yours. See what they think." LOL We have decided to take the side off the crib and let it be a small tottler bed. Right now his bedroom is my den and we do not have room for a bed in there. Next summer (2007) we are planning an expansion on the house so he will have his own room. With Mighty Mouse singing in my head, "Here I come to save the day" I thank you all once again. Have a great day! Ranger

Tominator
Re: I need help from parents! [ QUOTE ] let it be a small tottler bed [/ QUOTE ] Toddler beds are actually probably a bit smaller than cribs. I know they're shorter. The one we have uses the same size mattress, it's just lower to the ground. I'd still recommend the toddler bed.

Hoosierbuck
Re: I need help from parents! One suggestion I have HEARD, but not tried, is to flip the crib upside down! I went the easy way and got a twin bed for my 4 y.o. when she was almost 2, (of course, when she was 25 months, the crib was under new management!) He's almost 2 1/2 and it hasn't dawned on him to crawl out yet. HB
