firefighter
My father called me last night and informed me that winchester is closing the plant that makes the lever action rifles.... He bought me a lever action 375 for 500.00, he also informed me that the dealer once notified that winchester is no longer going to be making the lever action rfiles had doubled the price of the those model guns.... does anyone know if this is true ? I've been looking around and cannot find anything regarding this ............... Also, does anyone have any experience shooting that model gun? I looked on winchesters site for this model, caliber and anything associated with it and cannot find anything........
tedicast
Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? Here is a link from my local paper about the plant closing... New Haven Register..Winchester Closing You may have to sign up to read it, but the info you are looking for is in there. It says that the plant closing will bring an end to the Winchester model 70 bolt action, model 94 lever action, and the model 1300 shotgun. I have a hard time believing the mod 70 will be discontinued, but who knows!
tedicast
Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? I just copied the meat of the story from the article, as you do have to sign up to read it........ Copied from the New Haven Register DeMennato said if the plant closes down, it will mark the end of Winchester’s most well-known and historic sporting firearms — the Model 70 bolt action centerfire rifle, the Model 94 lever action centerfire rifle (known as "The Gun that Won the West") and the Model 1300 pump-action shotgun. Herstal Group has no plans to make the New Haven-made models anywhere else, said DeMennato. Under the facility’s union contract, none of the products manufactured at the New Haven plant may be relocated before March 2008, anyway, he said. Scott Grange, a spokesman for Herstal divisions Browning and Winchester Firearms, both located in Morgan, Utah, confirmed that Herstal has no plans to build the New Haven models anywhere else. Winchester Firearms will continue to produce some other Winchester lines at plants in Portugal and Japan, he said. The Portugal plant produces a limited number of semi-automatic shotguns and semi-automatic rifles, and the Japan plant makes a limited number of fully functioning replicas of older Winchester models. AJ
Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? Double the price for a modern 94? Thats rediculous. They are not as desirable as the older models. I can understand why they are dropping them, their quality has gone to crap. The older ones will still appreciate as any other gun will. I can see the 94 guns going for bargain basement prices as to get rid of them. If you would have looked down the list a little you would have seen an earlier version of this subject. David_218
Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? I really can't imagine that there will be no more Winchester M-94's or Model 70's produced again. This is a big blow to the shooting & hunting sports. VERY SAD! Stinger-Hunter
Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? Although I got my Model 94 a few years ago and is probably one of the ones AJ was talking about, I'm glad I didn't sell it. Def a blow to the firearms industry.
