Guest bowhunter56
When you visit your local bow shop, or store that sells and service bows, what do you want or expect???

tedicast
Re: What do you want or expect??? I expect to be treated like a paying customer, even if I am only buying a $10 or $15 item. The shop that is closest to me seems to give everyone that isn't or hasn't bought a bow from them a serious attitude. A couple of years ago, my bro went in to have a dozen arrows cut to size. They charged him $12. $1/arrow seems a little high to me to cut. but what are you gonna do? A couple weeks later, I went in to have a dozen cut. While the kid was cutting, I made a big show out of looking at a vipertec. Talking to the owner about it, asking when one in my size would be in, etc. I got my arrows cut for $5. That just isn't a way to run a business, and I refuse to spend any $$$ whatesoever there now.
popgun
Re: What do you want or expect??? I also expect the employees to be knowledgeable, as well as courteous. I was in one shop crowded with customers and a customer requested information about an arrow for his crossbow. The sales staff member corrected him, and told him it was called a bolt, and then spent ten minutes feeding the customer a bunch of bull. I was in a gun shop once and overheard a customer asking for a clip for his automatic handgun, and then listened as the clerk spent a lot of time explaining the difference between a clip and a magazine and an automatic and semi-automatic. The customer left without buying because he didn’t like being talked down to, and bought nothing. I’m sure the customer told his friends that might not be up on all the technical jargon. I visited a shop recently that never acknowledged that I was there until it was my turn at the counter. Once there, I was treated like the only customer in the store. I liked their person to person contact, but still think a new customer should be at least acknowledged when they come into the shop. “I’ll be with you in a minute sir, as soon as I am finished with this customer.” Etc. The employees can talk as technical as they wish to each other, but should never talk down a potential customer. Knowledge about the products is very important, but the buying power of the customer should always trump the tech talk. ....popgun

VTbowman
Re: What do you want or expect??? I expect to be treated like I was buying an entire $1000 set up even if I were there to buy $2 worth of items. I expect the techs to have complete knowledge on at least the bows, arrows, and accessaries they sell. I expect unbiased opinions on all equipment. Not be pushed into what they like or have personally. I hate going into any type of shop and have the guy sit there and brow beat me when I buy what I want when its not what he like or has for himself. Like I dont know what I am doing. Most archery customers have a ton of knowledge on there hobby too so talking down to them or BSing them is a super turn off to me. Even when I hear a "pro-shop" tech doing this to someone that is obviously unknowledgable, I will walk out.... JMOs
Born2Hunt
Re: What do you want or expect??? WHEN I GO INTO MY ARCHERY SHOP I EXPECT TO BE TREATED LIKE A PAYING CUSTOMER. WHEN I GO THERE IT IS BECAUSE I WANT SOMETHING, I'M NOT LOOKING. I HAVE BOUGHT 3 BOWS WITH ALL THE FIXINS AND LAST TIME I WAS THERE I WAS TREATED LIKE CRAP SO I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW SHOP. PAbowhunter86
Re: What do you want or expect??? The shop I go to is in a small town so the everyone know everyone and it is a relaxed enviornment. The guys that sell and set up the bows are great they know what they are talking about. If you need any pointers they will be happy to give you them. over all they are very helpful.
rockefeller66
Re: What do you want or expect??? I just want them to want the best for me and want them to make sure I get what will make me happy, not just what they want to sell.
