Guest Andrea
For those of you that are allowed to bait...what are the different things you have used for bait??? Anything unusual??? I have wondered about using peanut butter. I HAVE thrown out some apples before. They ate those up OVERNIGHT!!

JimT
Re: Different baits I hear coyote urine would be good for you to use. Actually apples, corn, and pellets are used here to attract deer, but we cannot hunt over bait. I have never tried peanut butter, but have wanted to. Guest adamc
Re: Different baits I bait for deer when season isn't in. I use mainly corn and peanut butter. They seem to like both but the jar of peanut butter is usually emptied overnight!

I thought you'd have to dump some out on a log or the ground or something. Are you serious???
Bownarow
Re: Different baits I've heard of the peanut butter thing too. You do leave it in the jar b/c it is harder for them to lick it out, therefore the pb will last longer.
Guest adamc
Re: Different baits yeah i leave the whole jar out there. I do put some on trees and what not but you can also take the top off the jar and nail it to a tree the screw the jar back on the top and cut off the bottom of the jar. It helps keep ants and coons and everything else from getting in it.

Anything unusual??? I have wondered about using peanut butter. I HAVE thrown out some apples before. They ate those up OVERNIGHT!! [/ QUOTE ] I've tried several things in the past. Peanut butter is good. I've used red & green apples before & the deer seem to like the green apples better. Corn is always a favorite. A friend of mine swears by sweet potatos during hunting season & I've heard of people baiting with soybeans bought from the farmer's exchange in the late winter when the season is over. Rhino
Re: Different baits Baiting isn't legal here in Mississippi but it is in Louisiana. A friend of mine in LA has used piles of sweet potatoes along with corn. It takes a while for the deer to work over a pile of sweet potatoes.
