For those of you that are allowed to bait...what are the different things you have used for bait??? Anything unusual???

I have wondered about using peanut butter.

I HAVE thrown out some apples before. They ate those up OVERNIGHT!! smile.gif

Re: Different baits

I bait for deer when season isn't in. I use mainly corn and peanut butter. They seem to like both but the jar of peanut butter is usually emptied overnight!

Re: Different baits

yeah i leave the whole jar out there. I do put some on trees and what not but you can also take the top off the jar and nail it to a tree the screw the jar back on the top and cut off the bottom of the jar. It helps keep ants and coons and everything else from getting in it.

I've tried several things in the past. Peanut butter is good. I've used red & green apples before & the deer seem to like the green apples better. Corn is always a favorite.

A friend of mine swears by sweet potatos during hunting season & I've heard of people baiting with soybeans bought from the farmer's exchange in the late winter when the season is over.
