Hoyt???????????????

I have always shot a mathews but decided to order a hoyt. I ordered a hoyt trykon 2 weeks ago and was told it would be here about 4 weeks. Well I've been hearing they have been taking several months to come in. So I decided to call hoyt yesterday and they old me they were taking 4 weeks. Well I called again today to talk with a different person and he told me 8 weeks. So I called the local mathews dealer and asked how long the switchback xt was taking to come in and they told me 10 days. I was wanting to try a trykon out but not wanting to wait 8 weeks. How long have others waited for a trykon?

Re: Hoyt???????????????

Any company needs to be honest with their customers up front. Being told 4 weeks and having to wait 8 is unacceptable IMHO. I am a Hoyt fan and I say move on to another brand.

On the other hand, supply and demand is a factor. They must be flying off of archery stores shelves for a reason.

It's kind of hard to find any bow in stock for me. "Left handed 26" draw @ 70lbs".

that would indeed be a hard one to find in stock. if you really have your heart set on the Hoyt then I would wait a week or so more for it. If not, then go buy the XT.....you won't go wrong with it.

And there in lies the problem........Hoyt, and every other maker out there, makes all their bows primarily for right handed shooters in draws from 28-30"...........to make lefty bows they have to recalibrate everything, so they usually set aside 1 or 2 days a month and run lefty bows, but the rest of the month is for rightie's.

It's not just Hoyt.........and I don't want to see any bashing started here.........other brands will stretch the truth about their turn around time to get new customers. It's the bad side of business.

hey--season is over...if you really want that particular bow than I'd just wait the 8 weeks. You'll still have plenty of time to shoot!

This is true, but turkey season is in april and I would like to be set up and shooting the bow for a couple months before the season starts.

I'm not bashing at all. I have ordered 2 mathews in the past a fx and lx (when it came out) and only waited one week for each.

I like to know the truth up front when I order. I would have ordered something else if it would be 8 weeks thats all.

WHAT I REALLY WHAT TO KNOW IS IF THERE IS ANYONE HERE THAT HAS ORDERED ONE AND HOW LONG DID IT TAKE?

Mo, I don't want you to think I was saying you were bashing. I don't, lol. It just that these posts tend to head in that direction quickly, so I was issuing a warning.....preventative strike.

As I stated before, you're in an odd class with your set-up, and it takes companies a while to get them done.......believe me, I've dealt with a large number of companies, including Hoyt, and they've all been the same........the reason Mathews may be able to help is becuase no as many folks with your specs shoot their bows or maybe they just finished up a bunch of them in your specs........could be plenty of reasons.

It sure would be nice to have a draw lenght challenged bow shop around (oh and left handed as well) for me to shop at then I would be set. grin.gifgrin.gif

Re: Hoyt???????????????

All the bows I ever ordered have been right handed 29" draw at 70# from Mathews and they usually get to my pro shop in a couple days. But being that size bow, I dont know if they would have any already built and ready to ship. It probably depends on if Hoyt already has one made and if not, when they will make one that size. Not trying to bash any brand, but ive shot the trykon and the switchback XT........cancel the Trykon and get the switchback XT if you havnt shot either. wink.gif

Re: Hoyt???????????????

I can see how some companies may try their best to have your order filled, but getting two different answers from the same company makes me think that the customer service may be handled the same way. I always take customer service as a major factor in what I buy. Wal-Mart built an empire on that one principal and so have many other companies. I guess more than anything is comfort with what you use. If you are willing to wait then that's up to you. If you do get the TryKon and don't like the bow, then that's 8 weeks of waiting or more that you wasted. If I were you and could afford it, I would order a SwitchBack XT and shoot it to see if you like it. If you do, then cancel the order from Hoyt. First, check the return policy on both brands. I would just try not to limit my options so early in the year.

Re: Hoyt???????????????

i to just ordered a trykon xl on 1-23-06. this is the bow i wanted and is worth the wait. i also have a tag for turkey hunting in late april and hope to have it a few weeks ahead of that. i don't think it will take long to get use to the bow , it's always nice to get what you want on time. it's a great bow and if this is the bow you want then i would just wait. no sense getting a bow you really didn't want in the first place and then regretting it a month later. the choice is yours though. good luck!
