ok so after i got laid off i went on a little vacation. My brother lives in missouri but had gotten an Illinois liscence this year. Towards the end of the year he was not seein any deer so he asked me if i wanted to come help him scout for next year. so we went out scouting for a day and hopefull we would find some sheds. we hadnt been walkin for 10 minutes and see 3 does within 100 yards of us. we were walkin a fence line and the fence had a creek/ditch running next to it. After we watch the does run off we only went about 10 yards and something caught our eye in the ditch. The closer we got we thought it was a deer carcass and then we see the antlers. We are not sure how it died or how long it had been there. We didnt have a saw to cut the horns off so we were kinda mad about that, so we put him back in the water and my brother was goin back this week to get the horns. we walked for about 2 hrs and found no sheds and we were gettin a little frustrated. Then we start seein fresh rubs, like within 4-5 days old so we came to the conclusion they were not ready yet. All in all good day scouting and found where they were moving in the late season.

Thats a shame for that deer he could have been a real nice one in a year or too. Where there any signs of why it died any holes ?

That's a shame that someone didn't find him, assuming that someone shot him in the first place.

I am surprised that some of you are saying what a nice buck he would have been in a couple of years.

Around here in Arkansas, that is already a nice deer.

I certainly would not have passed on him.
