superguide
I still remember his first goal turning Ray Bourque inside out-one of many-plus the one from Gretzky in the Canada Cup.
Master_Chief
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! If he had played as many games as Gretzky I think they would be a close tie for greatest ever. Gretzky's extra 500 games though is quite the tie-breaker.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! Mario is a class act and in my mind right up there with Gretzky as far as talent. He's had a lot to deal with and I suppose it was time. Sidney Crosby is a lucky boy to have someone like Mario take him under his wing and teach what he needs to know.
Muff
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! One of the best in the game...he will be missed...I just wish I had got to see him play live.
muggs
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! A long time ago, the NHL was playing regular season games in neutral, non-NHL cities to promote the sport. The Kings played the Pens here in Cleveland, and I got to see Mario and Gretzky play against each other. Jagr was a rookie (I think) and him and Mario put on a show. It's one of my best memories, I was probably 9 or 10 years old at the time. To bad he's calling it quits, but I surprised he gave it a go for as long as he did. buckbuster11
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! I'm not really surprised. His health is killing him, the team is horrible and he's got enough problems dealing with these moron politicians in the state that are trying to keep him from getting a new arena. He will definately be missed on the ice.
Tominator
Re: Good Bye Mario!!!! I'll always remember how he beat cancer. Yeah, he's a tough one for sure. I agree with the Master Chief, his numbers probably would have rivaled Gretzky had he stayed healthy in his prime.
