Tominator
Last night I tore my gas grill apart. One of the burners had what appeared to be a blockage in it of some sort. The left side would fire, but not real strong, and you could smell the gas leaking out. Well, I got the burner out of there and looked down the left pipe, and sure enough, a jumping spider had built a coccoon in there that was partially blocking the gas. I got a .22 brass brush out and my pistol cleaning rod and pulled it out, put it back together, fired it up and grilled some "sissy" chicken. Yummmy. Good to have my grill back. Can't help it. I see something, I want to know the name of it. Here's a pic: Pic of the egg sac: They tend to put their egg sacs in tubes like hoses, hose nozzles, etc. I once had one build one in my gas can that I used for the mower. Took forever to refuel the tractor, so I looked, and sure enough, there was an egg sac blocking the flow of the gas. Just another hazard of country living I guess. [/ QUOTE ] Give me an idea of where you see them, and I'll bet I can show you a pic, or get close. The picture of the spider I'm showing is a macro picture. The biggest jumping spider I've ever seen might have been 1/2" maybe 5/8"--they're not that big. I love jumping spiders. They're pretty docile actually. I love watching them hunt, they're predators, not the lazy "build a web, hope to catch something" type spiders, they actually stalk and jump on their prey. My kids and I commonly catch them and put them in front of flies, or other bugs and watch them hunt.

[/ QUOTE ] I work at a place where it's like multiple warehouses linked together. We see them all over the place.. in our lab area, near the washer, in the back where the storage area is, you name it. I was back at our receiving dock and was laying a pallet down on the floor when a HUGE black spider came out of nowhere and started hopping (yes, hopping) across the floor. I never in my life had seen anything like it. I'm talking like 2 inches wide or better! We have seen 2 like this..... and then there are big brown hairy spiders too that are about the same size. I've been working at this same job for over 2 years now and we've seen 10 or more of these huge spiders..... YUCK!
