Lightfield Slugs ?

Recommended Posts

Thanks to alot of help from you guys, I purchased a H&R Super SlugHunter with the Deluxe Heavy Barrel. I have read that a lot of you guys use Lightfield slugs in the H & R or whatever fully rifled shotgun you have. For those of you that shoot Lightfield, my question is which type is better, the Hybrid or Commander slug. Not too sure of the difference so wanted to get some opinions. Thanks

Re: Lightfield Slugs ?

I also shoot 2 3/4 Hybrids from my fully rifled Encore. Of all the slgs I tested they were by far the most accurate from my gun.

Why the 2-3/4's and not 3"?

honestly?...I don't think the added recoil is worth it. Any deer you hit in the vitals with a slug is a dead deer. The deer isn't gonna know if it was shot with a 2 3/4, or a 3". In my experience there is a pretty substatial increase in recoil when shooting 3", thought I haven't shot 3" Hybrids.

Re: Lightfield Slugs ?

I use Lightfield's Hybrids in my 20 gauge Browning Gold, and they seem to perform better than Winchester Supreme Golds. I tried both, and while they were both accurate, the Lightfield's seem to expand more than the Winchester Sabot. The winchester bullet was recovered, from a target, with little expansion while the Lightfield expanded twice it's diameter and mushroomed well.
