Guest hookedonhunting
the other day i had one land about 80 yards from me!!!!!! he had a little color around his tail and wings but very little!!! boy what id do to kill that bird! my best friend is a taxidermist and has only mounted 1 among the thousands of ducks he's mounted. he was with a group w/ 3 other mallards. but worst of all the season ends the 29th!!!!!!! yall ever seen or killed one? and by the way this sure in heck ain't no farm duck. Im also takin my turkey choke and my hevi-shot so that if he lands 50-60yards away i can still get him. its not ethical ( my opinion) to shoot an uninjured bird on the water but a white mallard is an exception!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Covehnter
Re: white mallard I had one decoy with about 25 mallards last year, a little smaller than the others but was very vocal, quacked the entire time in the air and on the water. I decided too shoot a pair of greenies instead, thinking he was a boat dock resident.... kinda wish i'd whacked him now.
Guest Iambenelliguy
Re: white mallard I've never seen one, but I have seen an albino wood duck! We were field hunting one day, and seen him, he was among about 25 woodducks. He was too high to shoot though. It would be awsome to get an albino! Smitteken
Re: white mallard I saw one a few years ago. My friend had a shot at him but he was the wrong guy to have behind the trigger. I hesitated because I'm not an avid waterfowler I wasn't sure on the legality of killing an albino. Wish I would have taken a pop at him. dogdoc
Re: white mallard I've never seen one--here is a pic of a light colored Canada that was posted over at a different forum. Would love to have this one on the wall:
waterfowler_gal
Re: white mallard Neat pic... I have never seen a white mallard... I have seen a blonde mallard which I would love to shoot (It was about 70-80 yards out ofcourse)... If it is meant to be--it is meant to be and you will get a good clean shot on one... Good luck! WABS
Re: white mallard Was with a group that shot a Canada Goose with even lighter colors than the on in dogdoc's picture. It was basically a white goose with just the faintest of Canada Goose markings. I'll see if I can track down a picture. There was actually two of them in the flock, but we only knocked one of them down. It was the same day that 6 of us shot 30 geese of which 7 were banded. Now that was a good day!
