Bow Hunter Derek
This is the 9 pointer I got on my trail camera exactly 2 weeks ago. And here he is tonight with my hands on his antlers (minus the brow tine he broke off in the past two weeks). Saturday evening he was chasing does everywhere. I had him at around 100 yards, but he was coming right to me after three does. The does started fighting and next thing I knew deer were running everywhere, so needless to say, I never got a shot at this buck. I went out tonight not expecting to see him. At about 4:30 pm, I saw him chase two does out of the woods about 200 yards in front of me. They all disappeared and reappeared many times. Finally, he chased some does about 200 yards to the south, then turned around and chased another doe 200 yards in front of me and probably ran her 100 yards north of me. Then the doe turned and started angling across the field in front of me. The doe stopped at 80 yards in front of me and the buck worked up next to her, probably 10 yards further back in the field. With 10 minutes of legal hunting time, I settled the crosshairs on him and let the smoke pole bark. When the smoke cleared, the doe was still standing there, but my buck was no where to be seen. I got down and went to the truck to get a light. I found my deer just over a rise in the field. He had not gone 50 yards. Perfect double lung at around 90 yards. This is my first buck ever with my muzzleloader. Since I only gun hunt a couple days a year and the fact I got this buck on camera too, makes him extra special. Guess there will have to be another taxidermy bill!

buckee
Re: Before and After Photos! Ya got him ...way to go Derek Sounds like an exciting hunt, watching all that action and wondering if he's ever going to come your way...must have been intense. Nice to have those "on the hoof" and "on the ground" pictures.

Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Before and After Photos! [ QUOTE ] i don't now about you but i think he looks better on the ground. [/ QUOTE ] I think he'll look best on my wall! I'm going to see if I can't get a taxidermist to rebuild the broken brow tine since I have the before pictures of it. He looks a lot bigger than what he measures out. I green scored him tonight and with adding in an estimate for the brow tine, he's right at 130" gross. Not as big as I'd thought, but still pretty awesome. Hoosierhunter ... you have a PM. Thanks for all the congrats guys!
