AJ
It depends on the but behind the trigger. If an idiot is shooting it you can do it in one day with a hundred rounds. If someone with some common sence is shooting, it can take 1500 or possiblly more. There are different levels of "worn out". What's worn out to a long range benchrest shooter, is still a sweet shooting varmint gun to most shooters: So it only shoots 1/2" groups, oh well. What's worn out to a varminter is still acceptable to most big game shooters: So it only shoots 1.5" groups, oh well. As the throat errodes, the distance the bullet needs to jump to engage the rifling is what usually kills accuracy. Smart handloaders, will monitor the throat erosion and can overcome this by seating the bullet out farther to compensate for the removed barrel metal. When this distance is great enough, the loaded cartridges are too long to fit in the magazine. The shooter can either change bullets to find a bullet with a different profile that will seat closer to the lands, have the barrel set back and re-chambererd, or rebarrel the rifle.
