Guest J_Owens_66
Lookin at a .270 Weatherby Mag.. Got a few questions on it. Would this catrige take elk, moose, bear ect? It will be used mainly for whitetails, but then i may want to take some trips up north for moose, else, bear and stuff like that. Next question, where can i but reloading equipment for the .270 Weatherby Mag? I use a 15 dollar Lee reloading kit for my .243 and have had great results out of it, but it dosen't come in a .270 Weatherby Mag. reloading kit. Nect question, what grain bullets can you get for the .270? Minimum through Maximum? I think thats all the ???'s for now, if i come up with some more ill post them up. Thanks in advance. Strut10
Re: .270 Weatherby Mag. The .270 Weatherby is an outstanding deer, antelope and sheep rifle. I would rate it as a "decent" choice for elk, bear and moose. With the right bullet it will definitely get the job done. Commonly offered bullets in .277 diameter range from 90-150 grains. My favorite place to shop for reloading supplies is Midway . You will quickly find out that brass for reloading the Weatherbys is quite pricey. AJ
Re: .270 Weatherby Mag. Hey Buddy, Sorry for the delay on the response. Yep, the 270 Wby Mag is a decent caliber for most big game with the proper bullet selection. Proper bullet selection is a must as the 270 Wby can push bullets 300 fps faster than the standard .270 Winchester. Penetration on bigger animals can be an issue with weaker bullets. I would stick with "premium" controlled expansion bullets for big critters.
