bigmoss
Maybe this is old news but I am a big watcher of Jim Shockey's show and the new season just started. He was ALWAYS a Knight man for years, but now is using a T/C Encore ! Like to know whatthe dollar value was on that one to get him to switch, me bled Knight for years. Hoyt03
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! I noticed that too. One question I have for anyone watching the show the other day. He was hunting and took a shot and missed and for some reason was done hunting. I was confused. Is there some type of rule he has if you miss your done. B/c the other guy with him shot the animal he missed as it was running away.

too_pointer
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! That is new news too me, thanks. Of course being a TC Encore owner, Mikie likes it LOL. He probably is still pushing his powder till Hodgens offer him more $$. too_
billkay
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! I thought it was the powder. not $$ or the gun. He has his brand now and Knight didn't want to break from Hodgens. TC apparently doesn't mind.
str8shooter48
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! Was knight a good rifle before Jim Shockey? I don't know as I have never owned one. I'm assuming it is a fine rifle and was before Jim Shockey's endorsements and will continue to be after he's gone. I've been shooting T/C products for over 20 years I know they are fine guns. Long before anyone ever heard of Jim Shockey. Will his endoresements make T/C a better gun I doubt it. Will T/C fall apart if and after he breaks with them I doubt it. Powders? Jim Shockeys Gold? Fancy name on American Pioneer Powder. I myself like APP and have good results with it and its predecessor Clean Shot. Will I run out and buy JS Gold I doubt it. Its all a marketing ploy. For those who have been around for a while know what they like and use, who endorses the product don't mean squat. To put a ?? celebrity?? on TV showcasing a product is there for one reason to hook the newbie. Even CVA has a celebrity touting their guns. He even sounds quite convincing in his ads. If I were a newbie to the sport I'd probrably think. Wow a $200 gun thats shoots as good as a $600 gun I got to have one of those. Not here!!. Slick advertising sells to the unaware. tped
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! I really couldn't care less what these so called "celebrities" shoot or endorse. It is all about the money and who is paying them more at that moment. A more glaring example of this is in the bow industry - Matthews taughts how many victories their shooters have in tournaments and such more than competitors - Matthews pays these guys allot of money to shoot for their bows as that is theri form of advertising. Heck - these guys could win with any bow they shot. More about the guy than the equipment. I'd much rather have an ensorsedment from someone with no financial interest in a product to make a decision on than anyone named Jim Shockey or even these Realtree guys. Don't you think they would all be shooting Remingtons if that is who put up the sponsorship rather than T/C
AJ
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! Correct guys. I feel if a product can not make it on quality or performance, I could care less who endorses it, its junk. If it is a good quality product, word of mouth will do more for the product than what some "celebrity" that sells their name and picture can do for a product. I don't know, maybe I give people too much credit for being able to think for themselves. I do see and hear a lot of what does Michael, David, Bill, Junior, and who else use? Never heard of anyone just getting one shot allowance only.
bigmoss
Re: Jim Shockey jumped ship to T/C ! I agree with all the commenst above, but lets face facts allot of people new to the sport with go by what other people are using, and I think everyone will agree if you see many different hunter on TV or not using the same model gun over and over sooner or later you are going to check it out or want to give it a demo shoot. TC had a good rep from what I heard prior to all the celebs using their gun and I do believe for someone such as a TV host that is on the road filiming hunts or just hunts for a living the Encore is the best all around gun, heck you can carry about 4 different rifles and a ML in one or 2 cases VS 5 cases.
