rifleman25
I have noticed alot of folks on this board often recommend the 223, 0r 243 for predators. I am wondering why nobody mentions the best 2 out there the 220 swift, or the 22-250? And did we all forget about the new rifle supposed to set the predator hunting world on it's ear, the new 204 ruger?
Hoosierbuck
Re: Coyote Guns Because there are tons of variations of .223's, they are cheap to shoot, and you can get them in sporter weight, any flavor you wnat. Seems like a lot of the .220/.22-250s are varminters and too heavy for bushwacking a lot. Plus, unless you are really stretching it out in the 3-400 yard range, the .223 gets the job done just fine. As to the .204, it may be the cats patoot, but the you aren't seeing them out in the used market, and ammo is a little more steep, at least around here. Been thinking of going with a NEF Handi in .204 for fun, but can't seem to find the extra $400 for rifle and scope under the couch cushions. My $.02, anyway. Shaun_300
Re: Coyote Guns I use a .22-250 for wolves, varmints, and yotes! I love the caliber, and I'd like to own a .220 Swift someday as well. Here's my Remington 700 .22-250, its got the heavy barrel and Redfield 6-18x40 scope on top. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Coyote Guns I frequently mention the Swift. I use one for most of my daylight calling, but at night or in thicker cover, I generally break out my 223.
