Which hand??????

Ive noticed that I have one battle scared hand, my left hand actually. My right hand has a few scars but not nearly as many. After noticing that I started paying attention to peoples hands (off and on). Most guys have one hand that is far more scared then the others, they offer it more abuse.

Which is it with you and what from....

Here's mine.... and as ive stated its my left hand.

* My index finger was smashed off (at the tip) by the hold down of a 25-ton sheer. I then have a skin graff off my left arm to fill the hole. Its still pretty ugly.

* I have a 1" scar in the palm from running a buck knife app. 2" under the skin.

* I have a 3-4" scar from tearing out numerous I.V.'s as a kid in the hospital.

* I have various scars on nuckles and fingers from bumping plates and such on Starters and such.

* I have a 1 1/2" scar on the inside of my thumb from a fishing hook that tore the skin open as I dropped my rod.

* And my favorite.... 8-scars down the length (the outside) of my thumb from Running a new 20" Craftsman chainsaw down it.

They go on from there but thats all the specifics I can remember.

Re: Which hand??????

Never thought of it, but let me guess....You're right handed.....?

Guess it only makes sense, that your left hand is showing signs of abuse, most likely caused by something in your right hand.......

My left hand has more scars.....

Let's see....

Left wrist 3/8"scar from a staple that glanced out the side of a board.

Left index finger caught between a two wheel cart and a 350lb roll of cotton......scar runs full length of my finger.....

Left Palm 1/2" scar from dad's old timer pocket knife.....opening a Christmas present for my daughter a couple of years ago.

Back of left hand 3 assorted scars, that I am not sure how I got.

Left arm, bicep area 1 scar from an "empty" nail gun that a coworker thought would be funny to shoot me in the arm with, while I had my back turned.......NOTE: Just because a nail gun is empty, doesn't mean that it won't injure someone. The driver punched through a jacket, and 2 shirts to draw some serious blood......

Wow, I'm starting to tear up from all the beautiful memories these have brought back....

Re: Which hand??????

Yep, I've got a bit of scarring on my hands, let's see.....

Left hand:

Permanently dislocated ring finger thanks to Rudy Reed of Mansfield Malabar, my senior year.

Cut the very tip of my index finger back in 1983, and it's still numb to this day.

Right hand:

Permanently dislocated thumb.

Smashed nail on the index finger, still numb.

Cut scar from trying to open those stupid plastic battery packages.

Cut scar from glass as I was reaching for something in the creek when I was a kid.

IV scar from an artery line after my lung surgery.

Piece of pencil lead still in my index finger from a "sword fight" I lost to Rebecca Trent in the 3rd grade.

Cut scar on my thumb that I don't remember getting. grin.gif

That's just my hands, I'll spare y'all the rest of my body. grin.gif

Re: Which hand??????

where to begin??????10 years ago 3 fingers on my right hand were removed with the help of an m-80(my-bad) they were reconstructed but the nerve damage was pretty severe. 1.5 years ago I was in a bike accident that crunched my left wrist , 5 pins in my wrist for nearly 6 months with some pretty bad scaring, both mishaps were on my wifes birthday !! not that I'm blaming her !!!!!lol

We must be related, I had a similar episode to that last weekend... smirk.gifgrin.gif

I'm a mechanic, so my hands and knuckles get scared up quite a bit. crazy.gif It's kind of a tie between what hand gets what... my left hand has seemed to get the major ones, and my right hand usually just gets scuffed from a ratchet or wrench slipping. tongue.gif

Left Hand:

- 3/4" scar in between my pinky and ring finger from taking a tumble over the handlebars on my bike when I was younger. Thought I could carry about 10 rolls of duct tape in my arms while biking up a hill with no hands.... Everything went as planned until I hit a pothole! crazy.giftongue.gifgrin.gif

- 1/2" scar on my the top of my index finger, right across the top of the knuckle. I was taking a fuel filter off a Grand Am one day, it was seized on SOLID, I got mad at it and used a bit too much force, it came loose but my finger got the best of it, it got sliced right to the bone by the tin gas tank shield. blush.gif

- Puncture right through my middle finger about 1/2" from the tip of my finger, and underneath the side of my fingernail on my ring finger. I got a little speedy with the nail gun last weekend while building our ice shack, a 3 1/2 inch framing nail glanced out of a joist and went right through my middle finger and went in about half way through my ring finger underneath the nail. ooo.gifcrazy.gif

Re: Which hand??????

I've got a couple of knife wounds on my left hand because I usually wield the knife with the right hand. On my right hand I've got a couple burn marks. My hands have been through a lot but I heal really well without much scarring. (Super glue works better and is cheaper than stitches grin.gif)

Re: Which hand??????

Fairly even here so I guess I've abused both hands over the years.

Right Hand:

* Scare starting on the right side of the palm of my hand between the index finger and thumb that wraps around to the back of my hand. Early childhood injury (4 yrs old) from a glass bottle. Required a lot of stitches.

* Small 1/2" scare on the left side of my little finger. Another childhood scare that I can't remember how it happened.

* Small scars on my knuckles. As a young teenager I tried to deliver a right cross to my older brother and he ducked. I hit the brick wall behind him instead.

* A 1/2" scar near the end of the right side of my ring finger. A clutzy move on my part when I was operating a metal lath.

Left Hand:

* A V cut on the right side of my index finger. Another early childhood accident from a hatchet. (the magic 4 year old year again)

* A 2" scar in the palm of my hand that starts right in the middle between the middle 2 fingers and goes down into my palm. Some of my college buddies decided to do an ice trick with me while I was asleep in my dorm room. As I woke up I quickly reached out at the closest guy and the metal ice tray cut my hand wide open. Another dozen or so stitches.

* about a 1/2" scar on the back of my index finger. Can't remember how that one happened.

* another 1/2" scar just above my wrist below my thumb. Another forgotten clutz move on my part.

Glad you limited this to just our hands. grin.gif
