And sometimes things stink.....

As some of you may remember I had two colts born last summer. One was born in July and one in August. The one in August almost didnt make it. She was premature and we really had to take good care of her for about a week. She finally pulled through and as of recently she was about 400+lbs and doing very well.

Last night I get home to find my older colt (Indie) outside the fence. She was walking back and forth trying to get in. I made my way to the back fence and let her in. She didnt have a cut on her. I finally found the spot where she got over. One "T-post" was broke off at the ground. The top two strands of barbed wire were broke and the field wire was smashed down to about 2'.

I knew something had to be hurt. My adult horses are two geldings (One about 100lbs and the other pushing 1200lb) and my wife has a Mare that is around 1000lbs. I honestly figured I would find one of the adult horses mangled...... Wrong.

My other little fillie had a compound fracture on her right front leg. I called my wife and their "fill-in" vet came out to see if they could do anything. Nothing. Way to severe of a break and the compound sealed the deal.

I hated to put her down but what do you do. She wasnt my favorite of the two colts but losing anything like that is pretty hard.
