Jeramie
Ive put several post on here about my wife's grandma and her collection of Shotguns, rifles, and a few pistols from her deceased husband. (Her son in law is mistreating them, etc). A mutual friend of ours (grandma's friend too) had to sell some of his Rifles not long ago. This left him without a rifle. He's been after me about deer hunting so I told him I would borrow one for him to use. I though the 30-06 under her bed was an older Winchester Semi-Auto but I never payed that much attention. I had only seen it once or twice. I was at Grandma's this morning eating breakfast. While I was there I decided to pic up the rifle and clean it so he could use it this weekend. We are suppose to run a few rounds through it Thursday. I didn't look at it again this morning (its in a case). I couldn't stand it anymore so I went to check it out a few minutes ago... Here's what it be..... Remington Woods Master 742 (Semi-Auto) with a carved stock (pretty scrolling) and a 3x9x40 Leupold! It has a tiny bit of Rust on the Receiver and thats it. It will come right off. I think it has just drawn a little moisture. I hunt with a Rem 700, 30-06 with a 3x9x32 bushnell... He may be using my 700 this year... Hard choice. I dont much care for the Semi-Auto but man this is one sweet rifle. Anyone ever own one of these rifles? What did you think of it, etc. After season im going to see if she wants to sell it. I wonder what its worth?

brad dryden
Re: Oh Baby! (yep, its a 30-06) Sound like a sweet gun semi-auto makes shooting more fun if you dont mind buying bullits.
wtnhunt
Re: Oh Baby! (yep, its a 30-06) Think my wifes grandfather has one in a 6 mm if I am not mistaken. He has several remington semi auto rifles. I have shot his some and it seemed to have a pretty good feel to it.

Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Oh Baby! (yep, its a 30-06) jeramie----Only advice is to keep it clean. Semi's have been called "jam-amatic" Usually the action isn't clean causing the problem. IMO--your 700 is a better hunting gun. Much better trigger. The scope is right on---you can't do better. Let us how it does this deer season.
