WABS
Thinking of turning my .44 Mag Super Blackhawk into a hunting gun. I have no knowledge of how to put a scope on this pistol but I'd really appreciate any suggestions on the how and type scope would you more experienced folks suggest? VTbowman
Re: Scope for a New Model Super Blackhawk? Not to bust your bubble, but I was looking into this for a Ruger New Model Black Hawk in .357 Mag and was told there are after market scope mounts made for the Ruger but they are not designed well, not very good, come loose easily, etc. The other alturnative was to have it drilled and tapped but again I was advised against it becuase of the way the frame is designed over the chamber. (Not exactly sure why.) I opted not to scope mine. JMO If you do scope your please let us know how and how well it worked for you. Thanks

WNY_Whitetailer
I would have it drilled and tapped by a smith and then have him mount a Weigand scope mount...Rock solid.

MichiganHunter
well I bought a new modle super black hawk and was considering a scope but changed my mind when I chould find anything that seamed to be good. I ended up having my gun smith make me a fiberoptic set of sights.
just-an-illusion
If your new model is like mine it should have two places in each side of the barrel and two in the top. I have included pics of mine. I have the ruger bases and a Tasco 1.25-4 x 28 that i had on mine. It was very stable and has never moved. I decided that i liked open sights better for the close quarters that i hunt with this gun. Hope this helps Good luck and GOD BLESS

just-an-illusion
It is a Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 mag. Looks nothing like a redhawk or a super redhawk.
