VtBowhunter
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! And this is what players were worried about after Kobe made his 81........this girl's coach should be ashamed for leaving her in that long........they blew that other team away by over 100 points.....she shouldn't have been in there after they got a big lead. [/ QUOTE ] Good, someone also agrees with me, thanks buddy. I think a respectful coach should have played the whole bench after getting a good lead. This is why so many kids shy away from sports, its always focused on player.

lil hunter
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! I've heard from a few people that the other team stopped playing defense after halftime, and just let her keep scoring. Don't know how true it is but... IllinoisArcher
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! Its stupid why whould you keep all the starters in you take a chance at injurying your starters and it hurts the other team mentaly. the final score was ridiculous 137-32 Thats just stupid IMO
Tominator
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! To be fair to this young lady and coach, we don't know all the details. I've coached on the high school level and I can tell you, some schools, players and coaches could give a darn about how to play the game the way it's supposed to be played. In those instances, those teams should not even take the field, and if they do, they better be prepared to take a butt whooping. Case in point. My first year of coaching girls HS softball, we entered the sectional tournament ranked 1st in Central Ohio, and 5th in the state. Our first opponent was an inner city Columbus school that had zero players, and zero coaching. During warm ups their pitcher literally could not get the ball over the plate, and when she did it was like hitting a church softball league slow pitch. Our pitcher on the other hand was a 2 time all state player that could bring a fastball approaching 60mph. After warm ups our head coach came to me and had this face ----> and said to me "I hope they don't get hurt." Sure enough, their pitcher got one over the plate to our 3rd batter who in turn sent a BB right into the pitcher's, ummmmm, nether region shall we say? Well, that was it for their pitcher, so they brought in the back up pitcher, and as you could imagine, she was horrible. We were up to bat for close to 1/2 an hour, there was no way they were going to get us out. We had our girls start batting opposite hand, that didn't work. Then we started having our runners leave early which gave us automatic outs. We also started striking out on purpose, which really, embarrassed us and them. It was a sham. The game ended by mercy rule in the 5th inning, and I think the score was 27-0, but we could still be playing if we wanted. Sorry for the long winded post, but just wanted to give you all an example of it not always being the player or coach.
VtBowhunter
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! I watched the highlight reels of the game on ESPN and she was delfinately hogging the ball......she's triple covered and plowing through opponants, to do lay-ups, when passing would have been much easier and less likely to get someone hurt. unioncountyslayer
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! I like what Vince Carter said after Kobe's 81. He said that he wasn't taking anything away from Kobe's 81, because it was an impressive accomplishment. But at the same time it revealed even more what is wrong with sports these days. Fewer and fewer pro athletes are playing team ball anymore. I think that a good example of a great player, and team player was Michael Jordan. Even though Jordan would put up 30 to 40 a night, he would most times have 6 or 7 assists to go along with it, plus he was a great help defender. Randyman
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! Maybe her coach can line up a game with a team of folding chairs. Of course, the chairs could be strategically placed to make it fair. 200 points wouldn't be out of the question. Put a lot of college scouts in the stands, maybe even get her a scholarship. Kinda restores my faith in sportsmanship.
rutbuster
Re: 113 points scored by one girl!! Do not see that much anymore where one team will run the score on another ,I don't care if it's football ,, basketball or which ever sport I do not agree with it, that isn't sportmanship....
