HeviShot
What is better an early or late spring?Does the breeding cycle depend on the lenght of the day?
Guest TBryan
Re: Early Spring Good Or Bad? I think that the warm weather gets them in the mood, but as far as i know thier actual breeding cycle involes the amount of day light. rockefeller66
Re: Early Spring Good Or Bad? I would say early spring, the birds are grouped up and just always seems to be a good time.

atthewall
Re: Early Spring Good Or Bad? Early is best in Texas. As warm as this year's winter has been, Toms are strutting right now. Probably will be all bred up by the time April 1st gets here Quality calling this year will be a premium.

Rhino
Re: Early Spring Good Or Bad? I don't think it matters much either way as far as hunting goes. The hens start nesting about the same time of the year each year anyway. The turkey hunting has always been pretty good from mid March to about April 23rd down here. Gobbling activity usually starts winding down around that time, give or take a few days. By the end of our season (May 1st) finding a gobbling bird gets pretty hard. Personally I'd rather have spring green up starting early. It's not anything to do with the birds actions but gives me more cover to relocate if I need to.
