I am considering buying an AR and have been looking at them online but really have no clue as for which ones are better than others. I mean theres armalite, fulton, bushmaster, colt, clark, lesbaur, RRA, dpms and the list goes on and on. well to get to my question does anyone have experience with different brands of ar's and is there much of a quality difference between these brands, anyway thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

Re: ar-15 questions

With Colt, you are paying for the name. Its no better quality than anything else, but it has the horse stamped on it, so it costs more. Armalite has always had a good reputation for decent quality guns. Bushmaster has been spotty. I have read a bit of bad info on them. DPMS seems to be a decent gun. The semi custom stuff from Rock River, Les Baer, Clark, SSK, and others, is just that, semi custom to custom. The quality is higher than what is mass produced at the factory. I have a cluge gun that is made up of a Colt National Match lower and a JP Enterprise upper. It shoots extremely well and will give most bolt rifles a spanking when it comes to accuracy. I suggest you check out this website. There is a lot of info on that site.

Can you buy one of these guns for under a $1000?

Sure, it depends on what you want. You can get a varmint type flat top from DPMS for under a grand. The more bells and whistles you want add to the price. Chek out DPMS, Bushmaster, Armalite, Rock River Arms

Do some shopping and see what you can get. You can probably pick up a used version for a great price.
