WI2506
Its my first year turkey hunting. The 870 I bought new in 1976 has shot everything but turkeys. I will be using 30 inch full choke 3 inch 12 ga. What would be a good starting load to try?
Tominator
Re: Remington 870-turkey hunting My 870 patterns best with Winchester Supreme 3" buffered copper plated #5's. There are some newer shells out there now, and some of the other guys might be able to suggest some of them.
LETMGROW
Re: Remington 870-turkey hunting My 870 favors Winchester Supreme 3" #5 shot. Winchester # STH1235 You could start here but, you might try some other loads also. Just like rifles no two seem to like the same bullets or loads. Sometimes it pays to buy a box and share it with a buddy who may have something else. try his and let him try yours. Kind of a cost sharing thing and could save both of you a couple bucks. If by chance he or she had an 870 also, you could even trade chokes if they were different. Kind of fun also! Good Luck
too_pointer
Re: Remington 870-turkey hunting WI, I would try some hevi-shot. It patterns excellant, and really has great knock-down power and extended range. too_
