KirkV
Well guy's if you remember I was talking before about the gun my buddy was going to sell me and I bought it. It is a synthetic stock Winchester model 70 300 win mag brand new, and I got it for $350. I went to my local gun store and put a Leupold VX-1 4-12X40 Scope on it with Leopold rings and mounts. Then I topped it off with a new shock absorbing buttplate. It will be ready by the end of next week for a pickup and I will have to try this puppy out. It is my first large caliber rifle and I am looking forward to sighting it in for my upcoming elk hunt in Wyoming. Thanks for all of your previous comments. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: My model 70 setup 300 mag The 300 Win Mag is just about perfect for elk IMO. I would highly recommend you use 'premium" bullets. I suggest the 180 grain Nolser Partition. Your regular "cup & core" bullets can fail when pushed to fast & the 300 Win Mag pushes them pretty fast.
