"06 project gun.....

With the addition of a couple sets of Leupold QD rings and a QD base I'll have all the parts together for one of my project guns.

This gun is gonna be a Remmy XP100R / Model 7 switch stock.

I plan on having the heavy .308 barrel cut down to 18" and then fitting it to both the McMillan handgun stock and the Accurate Innovations rifle stock. I'll have a long eye relief scope sighted for use as a handgun and a rifle scope sighted for use as a long gun. The use of the leupold QD mount system should make this a piece of cake to accomplish. I would like to have the barrel chambered for 300WSM but that would require having the bolt modified and that dosen't look like it's in the budget at this time. I think I'll just leave it a 308Win for the time being.

This should be a fun gun to play with.

Sweet setup. I have the same thoughts when I had my 338/284 built. I went with a 16" barrel so I can slap it in a Model 7 stock and I have an instant hard hitting carbine. How do you like the AI stock? They do look pretty nice.

I like their stocks. It will require a little bedding compound to make it a perfect fit. They come with the full length bedding block and pillars installed. I got this one off eBay straight from AI for less than half of retail. There is a slight imperfection in the barrel channel that's gonna disappear when it gets opened up for the fat barrel.

The checkering is laser cut which results in flat top diamonds. I will likely have this gone over by hand to sharpen them up.

All in all they are a very nice stock.

Man that handgun .308 must jump quite a bit eh?

Naw, the .308 in a heavy barrel handgun is quite the pussycat....
