Here we go again

Its early in the superbowl and the refs are at it again. I am not fans of either team so am looking at this in a neutral situation. The refs are giving the seahawks the shaft so far. Take away a touchdown for a ticky tack pushing call in which the guy barley touched him, and then on a big punt return call it back for a weak hold call. then Big ben didnt break the plain but they say touchdown. Things look very one sided so far, I just hate to see a games outcome be determined by questionable calls made by officials, especially when they are hesiatant about making them. Just rediculous.

Re: Here we go again

Hey another good one. Should have been 1st and goal seahwaks at the 1, but they called it back for a holding call that didnt even occur, even madden didnt see it. Two plays later Hasselback throws a pick, unbelievable, and then they call a penalty on him that shouldnt have been called

Re: Here we go again

For penalties, the Seahawks had 7-70 yards and the Steelers had 3 for 30 yards. That one after the pick on Hasselbeck was a horrible call.

I wasn't cheering for anyone but didn't see many against the Steelers that I questioned.

Re: Here we go again

Looked to me as if Seattle had to play 2 teams last night... Pittsburg and the refs. They didn't stand a chance. All them Steeler fans in the seats and the refs helping too. All I had to do is watch a few calls to know how this game was going to turn out. EVERYBODY wanted to see the BUS go out on top in his home town. Well... it happened. Honestly I'm happy to see that but the game was poorly called by the refs!

Re: Here we go again

The pass interference call is one you can usually get away with but it happened right in front of the official. They have to call that.

As for Bens TD run I thought it clearly broke the plane of the goal everytime I saw the replay, either way it was to close to overturn it.

Seattle got away with one on the INT return when Ben got blocked in the back.

The holding call on Seattle right before Taylors INT was a horrible call I will admit that, but what are you going to do. You have to overcome those things, the Steelers got shafted a lot more in Indy and were able to overcome that. Thats just how it goes. Seattle has plenty of other things to blame.

Re: Here we go again

Seattle had a couple bad calls go against them, but they choked. I wanted them to win also, but they did.

The Steelers were the better team last night, but I do not think they are 90% of the time. I am glad they got a ring though, cause I have always found Cowher {sp} entertaining and he seems like a good guy.

Re: Here we go again

I think the Seahawks beat themselves. Horrible clock management at the end of both halfs. To many dropped passes. I think the only thing Stevens caught all night was that TD. You have the league MVP and you only give him 20 carries. In a game like that he needs 25-30 IMO.

Steelers didn't play much better, but they made the plays when the needed to.

The flag on Hasselback was a bad call. The holding call, since when is it legal to drag the DE down to the ground? I saw clear holding, but then again I am not as gifted a Madden at spotting them(sarcasm alert). The pass interference was ticky-tacky penalty. He did extend his arm on the push off which will get called everytime on the offense.

Seahawks shot themselves in the foot 1 to many times.

Re: Here we go again

That pass interference call was BS, even you Steeler's guys have to admit that, if you can't you're in Denile. grin.gif

But like MC said, the Seahawks didn't execute either, so you can't say the ref were completely to blame...that being said, I would have liked to see the game called fair, I think it would have led to one of the best Super Bowl games ever, probably a 17-14, last second field goal finish.

Good for Cowher

Re: Here we go again

Definitely not one of the better SBs to watch. Hope next year is more exciting.

The offensive interference call was horrible, but even so, the Seahawks still could have won the game with better judgement and execution.

It's been a long, long time for Steeler fans and especially Cowher, so glad for him. Hats off to the Steeler organization for standing behind their long time coach. Most would've got rid of him long ago.

Real happy for Hines Ward (Bettis also). Hines is one of the toughest receivers in the game and he stepped it up in a big game when his QB was having a bad day. He definitely deserved the MVP.

I think the Seahawks will be back another day.

Re: Here we go again

I've seen the Tivo in freeze frame, and the point of the ball DOES sneak over the line for a split second.....Ben's shoulder get's hit first, and that causes his arm to shoot forward and he pulls it right back.......TOUCHDOWN.

The offensive P.I. call was a good call. You can't put your hand on a DB's chest and then extend......that's a pushoff, and a no-no.

From all the coverage I've been watching on this game, almost everyone is in total agreement that the better team won.

Hines Ward was definately the MVP.

For those of you that weren't Steeler fans........do you really feel the need to ruin this for the real Fans? Shows what kind of class you have if you do.
