borch
Re: warning: hevi 13 Straight from the Hevishot site which doesn't have the 3.5" listed yet. 12 Gauge 3" SIZE WEIGHT FPS PELLETS #4 1.625 OZ 1225 169 #5 1.625 OZ 1225 284 #6 1.625 OZz 1225 375 20 Gauge 3" SIZE WEIGHT FPS PELLETS #4 1.5 OZ 1175 169 #6 1.5 OZ 1175 375 Now I've not heard good report yet on the 3.5" stuff. But the 3" stuff has already wacked a lot of birds. I won't think twice about these loads in the 3" version.
ljmelea
Re: warning: hevi 13 first thing i would due is perform a penetration test.i've been shooting hevi shot,or hevi 13 for 6 years and boy howdy it flat out penetrates.we have used all stages of this ammo in our nwtf stilltarget shoots and i have killed a slam with hevi shot.i wouldn't sell it short without the penetration test. EKYhunter
Re: warning: hevi 13 Yeah Hevi-13 was for sale in last years Cabela's Turkey hunting catalog. It was also on Environmetal's web site. Also, many turkey hunters over on the NWTF board used it last year to kill birds and were getting awesome patterns with it. [/ QUOTE ] you haven't been shooting hevi 13 because its brand new...again, the older stuff isn't the problem. hevi 13 wasn't out last turkey season [/ QUOTE ] Actually it was. Same box and white shells. Same stuff as this year although they added the 3 1/2" stuff that wasn't in the lineup last spring. In fact I was posting info as was Ljmelea last spring. borch
Re: warning: hevi 13 Here's some new info from Hevishot that I came across today and thought I'd post it here. What they did this year is going to the star crimp rather than the paper disk seal. This was to deal with buffer leakage issues with last season's design. They've had issues with patterns in someof the lots. If you're having problems give Hevishot customer service a call. As far as the velocity issues the hevi-13 which is 20% denser than lead and 10% denser than hevi-shot goes. The 1050 fps is equivelent(approximately) to 1400fps in lead and 1200 fps in hevishot. The slower velocity does help keep the tighter pattern. But with the increased density the impact is sufficient to kill a turkey beyond what most of us would consider ethical distances. For those who are using the remington Hevishot loads. They will be available through this season from old stock. After this yearr they will no longer be available. Guest Tail_Feathers
Re: warning: hevi 13 On the NWTF site, a manufacturer rep for Hevi 13 posted saying they made the changes in response to some problems with buffer leaking out, etc. He said the new ones are 1050 fps vs. 1090 for the old Hevi 13. It's on the Guns and Ammo forum over there.
terry264
Re: warning: hevi 13 Hey all, check out the new Rem. Wingmaster HD loads that came out. These may be better than any so far. It's on rem.com site. May also be better on the chokes since it's a little softer.
