dg
I bounced back and forth wondering what to use. I went with the Gold Tip XT 55/75's. They fly great, faster, and are tough. I shoot 100 gr Muzzy's at 285 fps and they group good.
NY911Bowhunter
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum Here is my take on the subject - regardless of weight, spine, etc..... I used to shoot aluminums, Gamegetters 'cause I was a po school boy. I got out of bowhunting for a few years when I started working EMS. I got back into it and had to decide the same thing. I got 3 GoldTips to shoot. They are carbons by the way. I still have those same 3 arrows! I have hit trees, rocks, backstops, you name it! All that happens is the nock blows off. If they were aluminim, I would have bought several dozen! Carbons take a beating and do not bend!!!! They may be more money innitially, but the money you will save in the long run far outweighs that start up cost.
mathews4life
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I shot easton XX75's for the first two yrs and i liked them its just that they arent as quick and they bend easy. When i bought my mathews 2 yrs ago i switched Easont A/C/C's and i like them a lot. They dont break very easily but they will bend if u put just enough pressure on them. Only bad thing is they cost a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. My last batch i bought was $11.50 an arrow, not good for a poor college student. NY911Bowhunter
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum The carbon splinters were on the original style of arrow, the new manufacuring process eliminates this.

Guest gt2003
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I have to agree with NY911. I've shot goldtips for probably 5-6 years, maybe not quite that long but pretty darn close. I've bought a total of 18 of them and I've still got 13-14 arrows left only because I've lost a few (that includes 2 that robinhooded each other). I too have shot rocks, trees, wooden fence posts etc. and these things don't bend or break. They're incredible. I shoot feathers so I might have to have some refletched every few years but other than that you can't go wrong with these things. They added some speed to my bow also. Go with the carbons, especially the goldtips.

Guest Finn
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I shot aluminum for many years and switched this year to carbon. I find mine are a lot quieter drawing over the moleskin....absolutely no noise! I shoot bought the cheaper Beman ICS Ventures and have been happy so far. VTbowman
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum All arrows are great until they are bent. Oh wait carbon dont bend and stay that way...... Carbon arrows=straight or broken. It takes alot to do the latter..... JMO
VTbowman
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I have to add that I feel the only thing aluminium is good for is holding beer... But even that is beaten by glass... LOL
VermontHunter
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I started with the Easton Super Slam Aluminum shaft and after creasing most of them with tite groups they wouldn't fly right any longer so I switched to Gold Tips and haven't a problem.. LifeNRA
Re: Carbon vs. Aluminum I bought carbon arrows from Cabela's. Its their own version, called Carbon Hunter. They shoot great for me! Funny thing is they are cheaper than some of the aluminum arrows I seen there! MAN! they do take a beating! I hit the ground, outside wood and metal of my target, and stuck them into the 4x4 underneath my target! Haven't lost one yet! I know I would have bent the daylights out of aluminum! Carbon for me!!!
