Guest guess Posted February 7, 2006 Report Share Posted February 7, 2006 Good friend Ethan Harms {15yrs and a natural born hunter/killer} and I hunted his familie's farm this evening.It is just outside of Springtown Texas ,surrounded by houses and development,with a little creek running through it and a grown up area on one side.we set up on the edge of the creek the wind was howling 30-40 mph! we started out with the Fx3 on the DSH cottontail after about 10-15 minutes switched to coyote distress and the back to Byron South's female jackrabbit.A short time after a coyote busted out at a dead run into the open field then just a quickly turned and headed back,I fired with it on the fly and hit it a little far back ,but it did the trick.Ethan was beating himself up for forgetting to hit the record button on the camera.I told him not to worry we would keep calling .After another 10-15 minutes of going through the same sequence as before in comes another coyote an instant replay of the first one.I shot at this one on the fly as well and thought I had missed,so I fired again just before it could get out of sight,he did a perfect dirt roll! the .243 core-lokt went right through the shoulders! Ethan got awesome footage! I later found out the first shot had went right through the right front leg,but it didn't seem to slow him down much! the coyote on the right weighed 44 pounds the one on the left weighed 43 both were males! ps I forgot to do the thumbs up for the contest! LOL ethan is a well mannered ,very respesctful young man .he is a natural born hunter and can probably out shoot most of us on this board! he can play on my team any day!
