Guest Andrea
Thought that was pretty funny. Last night on David Letterman, Ben Roethlesburger admitted he did NOT get into the endzone for that "controversial" touchdown. Hmmmmmmmmm. They would have won nevertheless, but I thought that was interesting that he would admit that. My hat's off to ol' Ben.

jdickey
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Ben didn't have control of the ball when he hit the goal line! And.... there was NO PASS INTERFERENCE during the first quarter Sea Hawk "touch down"!
muggs
Re: Ben didn\'t get in It was really, really close, I think it could have went either way. It's hard to say but I'd say that at some point the ball broke the plane, if not I think Cowher would have went for it and scored on the next play anyway. Tominator
Re: Ben didn\'t get in I don't think he got in. He clearly reached the ball over after he was down. Who knows what would have happened had they not ruled touchdown. That would have been 4th and a micrometer. Would you go, or kick. The Bus should be able to get a micron I think, but I guess we'll never know now.

punkinslinger
Re: Ben didn\'t get in The ball crossed the front edge of the goal line after contact was made in mid air or else he has a 16" long neck!!!!
VtBowhunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Yes the ball barely broke the front of the line when he was hit. I've seen it in freeze frame and you can see it. And, yes it was offensive pass interferance, and NO Seahawks TD. The receiver can NOT put his hand on the defender and push to get seperation.....It's a push-off and that is what defines Pass Interferance........It happened 5 feet in front of the official, who knows better then him? SuperMn106
Re: Ben didn\'t get in remember guys on the touchdown all that has to happen is a piece of the ball has to touch (not go over) the white line. i believe he got in right before he was hit in mid air. the pass interference call was correct also. if it happened further away from the official it probably would not have been called but since it was right in front of him he has to call it. drkillemquick
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Not a big ben fan, but that was a touchdown. It barely crossed the line( he was lucky). I also think they would have had to kick a field goal had the decision went the other way.

JimT
Re: Ben didn\'t get in I did not think he got in. The ref did not think so either at first, then changed his mind.
VtBowhunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in [ QUOTE ] I did not think he got in. The ref did not think so either at first, then changed his mind. [/ QUOTE ] Wrong, the ref put one hand up and was fiddling with his whistle as he ran in. when he couldn't grab the whistle due to it bouncing as he ran, he threw the other hand up too. He knew it was a TD. Yes he had control, and yes I could tell. I've seen the play at least 100 times now. He loses the ball when he hits the ground, but the ball crosses before that. TOUCHDOWN. iron buck
Re: Ben didn\'t get in [ QUOTE ] DID HE HAVE CONTROL OF THE BALL? YOU CAN'T TELL FROM THAT PIC! [/ QUOTE ] It does not matter one bit. You are confusing catching a pass...........where the receiver must show control. To rushing with the ball........which BEn did. He can boble it all he wants & it would not matter one bit. A rusher either has it or he does not (fumble) The picture speakes clearly.......... TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! The ball only needs to break an invisible plain projected straight up from the FRONT EDGE of the goal line to be a TD. It does NOT MATTER WHERE a player lands after being hit. As for the pass interfearance on the Seahawk tuchdown called back..........the rules are VERY CLEAR. It was 100% offensive pass interfearance. Teh offensive playyer CAN NOT push off to gain separation as per the rules. Plus teh ref was right there. This was called all year.......and against the steelers on a few occasions through out the season.
VermontHunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Forget the plane of the goal line, also forget where the ball is... If you have the means of replay and have it taped,, go back and watch this play again... Ben's knee is clearly down well before the ball ever reaches the point of getting close to the goal line.... There for he is down and the play is dead.... And as for the pass interference,, That call could have easily been called deffensive pass interference,, the reciever was doing a whole lot of pushing himself to get position.... But this is all MUTE,, The Steelers won and thats that,, it's just the nature of the beast.... I say CONGRATS to the Steelers for one heck of a season... and have to say the earned that title has CHAMPIONS....

SuperMn106
Re: Ben didn\'t get in how would his knee down if he is in the air? from what i remember he dove and did not hit the ground untill after contact was made with the defender
VermontHunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Watch the play from behind,, never mind what happening at the goal line,, his initial momentum was stopped from behind from one of his own players coming down on him from behind trying to push him forward, then he is hit by a defender.. VtBowhunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in Luke, I've seen it at least 100 times and Ben leaps and break the plane long before hitting the ground. The OPI call could not be called DPI......the receiver was the one pushing off.
VermontHunter
Re: Ben didn\'t get in [ QUOTE ] The OPI call could not be called DPI......the receiver was the one pushing off. [/ QUOTE ] Yep,, I inverted what I meant to say... I'll have to go back a rewatch that leap again,, I could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time... But like I said it's a MUTE point the Steelers deserved that win,, and that's just the way it is...
